  1. 1. Which idea sounds better

    • Original Fallout 2 model
    • The alternate take listed below original Fallout 2 model
    • Something else - Maybe a companion arena to determine who is worthy to follow me/be my pack mule/be my professional bullet shield/amuse me
      0
    • None - I'd rather be killing Fire Geckos about now

I like companions. I really do. However, in the modern era of Fallout, you can only drag one with you at a time. This makes one of the cool features of old-school charisma a bygone memory: Having Charisma determine the # of followers you can haul with you.

In Fallout 2, you can have the following number of companions based on your Charisma:

1-2: One

3-4: Two

5-6: Three

7-8: Four

9-10: Five

You could also have one of the cyberdogs in it for free (not counting towards your total)... Anyway, what I'm getting at is why hasn't anyone tried making a perk that tries to restore that dynamic? The only mods I see so far are ones that grant unlimited companions. Outside of a few ambiguously useful perks needing Charisma, there doesn't feel like any major need to raise Charisma much, as 100 Speech is 100 Speech regardless of 1 Charisma or 10.

Also, a variant (for those that feel the values above are OP) could be something like this (For human companions. Robot/animal companion should be valid no matter what, because pets and non-sentient robots could care less how charismatic you are):

1: Zero (Can only have Rex or ED-E)

2-4: One

5-7: Two

8-10: Three

And having 10 Charisma could unlock the "Extra Follower" perk at Level 20-ish... or something. Anyways, I suggest this idea to modders out there (As I am modding incompetent) as a happy medium to the one companion vanilla experience and the OP unlimited companion mods already out there.
