CaptRory Posted February 22, 2015 Share Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Right now, I pretty much build all my characters of a given class one or two ways. I have one sniper good with handguns to use for Infiltration and all the others are designed to find the highest point on the map and kill things. There isn't a lot of question as to how I'm going to build a given class. Imagine if there was a random class. They could use rifles and one other random class specific weapon. Each level they would get to choose between two randomly chosen abilities from classes (except levels where there is no choice then it is assigned automatically). The idea being... you don't know what you're getting. Until they're maxed out you don't know how effective they'll be. It'd at least make it interesting to level up some of the characters. The way it hides later abilities means all this can be generated when the character is created and is gradually revealed as they gain experience as usual. *Edited to Add* I know there's a Second Wave setting that randomizes skills for all the soldiers, but something like that for one particular new class of soldier would be nice if one wanted a little variety while keeping a solid bedrock of familiarity.
