Ranger Ghost Companion

I'm not entirely sure how else to contact you other than here or a pm, and since you don want me to pm you I'll just submit my idea here since it feels more relevant.

 

I'd have one of Ghost's parents (let's go with her mother) be a former Desert Ranger, and having grown up on tales of the Desert Rangers heroism she joined the NCR Rangers, only to be held back by orders. She can easily be coaxed into joining by telling her to right it off as going on patrol.

 

Now for a quest line... Take her around show her the Various Ranger Stations and NCR camps to show her the true face of NCR... Show her the way the Greedy Politicians have crippled the Military by bowing to the whims the f Brahmin Barons and such by sending the Veteran Rangers to guard the Ranches of said people. Once this is done you could convince her to desert NCR and become a True Desert Ranger (which results in her getting her own Desert Ranger Combat Armor and a Ranger Sequoia) or have her stay with the NCR in hopes that things will work out (in which case she gets Ranger Patrol Armor and a Trail Carbine)

 

As for the Voice Actor... You could post a completed version, minus the voice acting and do an update once you have a viable voice actor lined up. Chances are someone is likely to volunteer for the part if they like the mod enough.

 

There's obviously some in between the lines stuff here and I'd be more than happy to contribute in whatever way I can

Sorry just have a few minutes to try and squeeze in a response, but I'll try to make a more detailed reply later.

 

Earlier in the thread we floated the idea of her father being a Ranger Vet and being killed in the Mojave or near to it. Her companion quest would be to balance teh scales of justice, so to speak. I think that gives a good motivation for getting the player involved and gaining trust as well as a deeper realtionship with teh comanion.

 

In regard to the true face of the NCR, I think Ghost is pretty well informed on the pros and cons of NCR expansion and politics back home. She's no greenhorn, nor do I think she's interested in becoming a desert ranger, especially since all the desert rangers were integrated into the NCR (many of them are NCR ranger vets).

 

In regard to the voice acting, true we can try to produce a top notch mod and I think the voice actress can come later. I think desertrose volunteered at one point to voice her, I'll have to see if she's still active and taking requests.

 

I'll try and review the thread (there is actually 2 or 3 of them) this weekend when I have a bit of time.

I wouldn't limit myself to existing audi dialog, we already have far too many custom lines. That's essentially why the discussion on a voice actress.

No, it's meh at best. What motivates me most are interesting ideas/plot lines in a mod.

If *you* want to see this mod created, I believe the best chance to make it a reality would be contributing compelling material (dialog, plot etc).

Hmmm I know the best point of recruiting for Ghost: the point rift after you complete her quest she says, "f*#@ing Mojave's going to hell, and all I can do is sit here and watch."

 

That's the point where the Courier could say, "Why don't you come with me?"

 

Ghost: What, you mean abandon my post? I could get court martialed for that.

 

Courier: You'd be able to do a lot more good in the field than you would here. Besides, I'm sure we can convince Your CO to let you do some field work.

 

This would lead to a conversation with Ranger Jackson who is the one in charge of Mojave Outpost.

 

Jackson will do his usual greeting, then the Courier says, "Ranger Ghost is getting a serious case of Cabin fever and desperately needs some action... Maybe you could let her do some patrolling across the Mojave."

 

Jackson: I'm not sure I can do that.

 

Courier: it would do some good for the communities across the Mojave to see a Ranger patrolling the Wastes... They'll feel the NCR actually cares about them.

 

Jackson: You do make a good point. Alright, Ranger Ghost is allowed to Patrol the Mojave, but if she gets killed it's your ass that's taking the heat.

 

Courier: I look out for those who travel with me.

 

Now the Courier returns to Ghost and says, "I've convinced Jackson to let you Travel me."

 

Ghost: Alright then, let's go.

Now on the chain concerning the idea of her father being a Ranger Vet.

 

Courier: So, why did you join the Rangers?

 

Ghost: Well, Dad had Been a Ranger Vet, and a damn good one too.

 

Courier: I get the feeling that there's more too it than that.

 

Ghost: *sigh* It's kind of a long story.

 

Courier: I've got time.

 

Ghost: Dad was on assignment with couple of other Rangers and one of them, Jonathan Arnold if memory serves me right betrayed and murdered my Father during the Battle of Hoover Dam and all they did was discharge him because he was one of Kimball's buddies... Rumor has it that he's living somewhere in the Mojave.

 

Courier: and you want a shot at the bastard who killed your father, is that right?

 

Ghost: *sighs* I guess it does sound a bit childish.

 

Courier: Not at all. I'd do the same if I were in your shoes... I'll help you see to that he gets what's coming to him.

 

Ghost: heh, thanks... You're the first person I've told that actually agrees with me.

This leads to them discussing how to find their target

 

Courier: so how do you suggest we go about finding him?

 

Ghost: Jonathan was always good at making friends, so some of the other Rangers are bound to know something, but the only way we could talk to them all is if we visited every Ranger Station and Camp Golf.

 

Courier: We'll make it happen, come hell or high water we'll make it happen.

 

Now they go through each ranger Station and ask the Ranger in charge (the one wearing Patrol armor) about Jonathan Arnold, but no one knows where he is. It's not until you ask Chief Hanlon, who could also be Ghost's Uncle on her mothers side that you get a solid lead.

 

Hanlon: last I heard, he was hiding out in a shack near Goodsprings.

 

There's only one shack near Goodsprings and that's the one located near the Yangtze Memorial.

Sorry been a bit busy and I'd like to wait to reply on your dialog ideas until I have some time to review them. However I'll try and offer some feedback and contribute this weekend. In the meantime what is your opinion on a remake (makeover?) in regard to Ghost's face? There are a couple of posts here with examples of face replacers.
