Seeker17281
I bought the GOTY version of Oblivion, which has all 3 games included. Been playing it quite a bit (nothing like leveling 3 different characters to 12 to figure out what annoys you) but am finding I am unlikely to finish even the 1st game without mods. At least...the mods sound cool when I read up on them, as there are several things which have come to annoy me about the game (monster AI, the fact that all encounters are the same level as you, the character models being flat out fugly, long list I'll spare you of). Anyway, I'm not a total stranger to Mods, I've made pretty fair use of the Dragon Age mod library, however I never used any TES mods before, but I've narrowed things down to OOOC (Oscuro's overhaul) and Martigens Monster revamp, along with Ren's as a foundation and then I'd like to slowly explore some other mod options. However I'm plagued with hesitation over the following as it seems like Oblivion mods are considerably more complex (load order being a new one to me for example). My hesitation comes in because i have not yet installed past Oblivion's initial game, SI and Kot9 are still waiting to be installed, yet the mods I favor take them into account. It seems I should go ahead and install the other two games, then install the mods, and then go, but I'm not sure how, if at all, it will impact my exploration of the initial game. So why this hesitation? Because a few games I've played, if you install the expansion pack, one starts off at the beginning of the new campaign, and if you start a new character, you have a "leveled" character appropriate for the expansion pack. If you want to start from scratch, frequently new items from the xpansion overpower the original game and then it turns into a snooze fest. :wallbash: I don't want that to happen with Oblivion, I want to explore the game (enhanced with more logical and interesting play than its vanilla version) from the beginning and not be fast tracked forward to be suitable for SI play. Also if there is any advice about links I can follow to get a bit more information on how to install mods for Dummies, I'd be very appreciative of it, I think I know what I'm doing with them...which is usually where I get into the most amount of trouble  I appreciate anyone's efforts who bothers to try and point me in the right direction, enough so to make a offering to the 9 in your name. Maybe it'll let you play longer before a CTD  Update, I managed to find a great tutorial about how to install mods with the OMOD, looks like it was written with me in mind so any who were starting to post links, tia but I think this post takes care of it :)
