Difficulty Ramped Way Too High

Hi all

Just started a new game of Fallout with a few mods installed (I tried not to go overboard). The only mods that I believe will affect the problem I've been having are Project Nevada and possibly Monster Mod. Only other things are Mission Mojave, UI and Textures.

SO anyway, I started wandering around the wasteland and found a lot of enemies that I stood no chance against. That's fine, I like that there are some times when I just have to run. However, I've now got to the Helios One mission (killed Caesar's Legion fellas, saved Goodsprings, all without a hitch, Primm was hard but doable), and when I enter there I simply cannot take down the robots defending it. They kill me in 2, maybe 3 hits and eat about 20 themselves from my laser rifle, plus grenades.

I think "Fine, I just need to level up" and travel on to the facility overrun by ghouls (in Come Fly With Me). These guys I can beat, surely? Just some ghouls!

No. Far from it. I'm still going down in 2-3 hits and each enemy (of many) takes at least a dozen shots of my lazers. I look around in the settings and I've gone down to Easy difficulty, I've reduced the "Enemy Endurance Multiplier" from seven to zero (in Project Nevada) and still, I can hardly scratch these guys.

Is there something I'm missing? I like Project Nevada but if this is the difficulty I can expect that's way too much for a man to handle!

P.S. The image shows my load order, or at least most of it. Up at the top is just a bit of DLCs and Project Nevada
