Hi there!

Could someone please help me with this issue? I´ve enabled the Debug Console in Oblivion .ini file and a FPS rate started to been displayed on the upper right corner of my game screen. I am a newbie in editing .ini files and I don´t know if it is normal that this display now is on every game I play... I´ve tried to delete my videocard driver and installed it again... The display was gone but, right after I restarted my computer, Voilá!! There goes the f****´ display again all over my games... What can I do?? I am not a computer expert and I don´t have a clue on what the hell is goin´on!

Thanks!!

I have just installed FRAPS to see if it would help me to take that damn number from my games screens and I realized that the FPS rate from FRAPS is different than the numbers which are being displayed spontaneously... Now I am not sure if these numbers are FPS indeed or maybe something else...

Every game, as in every game of Oblivion? or are you playing other games, like BF2 or somesuch and seeing the same framerate display?

If it's just in Oblivion, try deleting the oblivion.ini in your My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\ folder.

Like Vagrant said. Try deleting the .ini oblivion folder, and load a game in oblivion. The game will create a new one with the default settings. Or you could edit it yourself, if you remember what the value was before. I dont really see how editing the oblivion.ini could make it the FPS appear to all of your games though.

The small yellow numbers on the upper right corner of my screen started appearing in all games, not only in Oblivion, right after I've enabled debug console from Oblivion .ini file. Anyway, I will try to delete the oblivion.ini...

Thanks!

Well, logic would dictate that unless you've somehow forced every game to use that .ini file, the problem isn't the .ini file, or the settings in it. I would try to think back about what other changes you did at about the same time. What were you trying to do? What did you download/install? Have you tried doing alt+tab while a game is running, then hit Alt+Ctrl+Delete to bring up the task manager to look at what processes are running? This has to be some external thing if it is showing up in other games.

like Vagrant0 says with task manager but befor you run oblivon tell oblivon to run in a window so you can see the task manager on the right of you monitor and oblivion will run in the top left of the screen

( run oblivion launcher go in the options look for the "Mode" underneth it put a dot in the window, then get task manager up move yo the right of the screen processe tab run oblivon )

Good luck

Oh-oh, I am so stupid!!! Now I realize that I didn´t edit the oblivion.ini in My Documents/My Games... I´ve edited the file oblivion_default in c:\program files\bethesda\ oblivion!!!!! What have I done?? I´ve even created some lines in the mentioned file (the line for debug console, for example). Do you think this could be the problem?

I´ve realized that some games are not running properly as they used to be... I´ve done a LOT of tweaks in the oblivion_default and maybe they changed some root ini files, like drivers, for example... If this is possible, someone knows a way to undo this crap? reinstalling all drivers or maybe the Windows XP would be enough??

That´s what happens when you do something in a rush, without reading carefully what is exactly written on the screen...

Um, do you even know what .ini files do? That comment about your .ini file affecting other games was supposed to make you realize how impossible that is to do accidentally, much less to make work right. It HAS to be something else.

My guess is that before you downloaded FRAPS, you downloaded and installed some other fps software, then forgot about it. If not, what other games is this showing on? And what processes are also running while that game is (check your task manager)?

Vagrant, I understand your point, but the strange thing is that I am 100% sure that I didn't installed any softaware before installing FRAPS, and I installed this one some days after I've noticed the problem. Is there problem editing that default_oblivion file in Oblivion program files folder? I've just started to learn how edit games and other related stuff... This kind of problems are a pain in the neck for an "ammateur" like me, but believe me or not, I'm lovin' it because I'm learning a lot with my mistakes and your comments, guys! I will try everything you have suggested me and, if nothing works, I will reinstall all the drivers and see what happens! I will keep you informed of my progresses!!

Thanks!
