Hexaphobia
Hello all!I am returning from a year and a half hiatus from Skyrim moddding. I took a break away from Skyrim after having a fatal unrecoverable error with my last hard drive… which contained my beloved and heavily modded Skyrim folder. Now I have a new powerful rig and im looking into getting back into Skyrim. While I do remember how to do most of it I don’t remember a lot of the Skyrim INI/Pref, ENB local ini/pref, memory allocation, system optimization tricks that makes having a very heavily modded Skyrim possible. Also I don’t know if there has been new systems and tricks discovered while I was away. So im looking for some help from the community to find all the tricks for optimizing Skyrim to allow for a heavily modded Skyrim. I don’t need basic modding help, im looking for the advanced tips and tricks that I have forgotten. Thanks for all your help.
Deleted11834868User
I don't think there's too much you'll need to do for optimization if you have a powerful system to make a heavily modded game possible. However, if you want an ENB, then the instructions on the page for the local ini, Skyrim ini and Skyrim Prefs will probably be listed in the page of the respective ENB.Then again, if you'd rather really push for the fps and not use an ENB, still get ENBoost. http://wiki.step-project.com/ENBoost - a really useful guide on getting it working. If, for whatever reason, you're like me, and Skyrim/ENBoost refuses to run the correct graphics card, instead using the integrated one, use this. http://www.[Blocked URL: Spamming mod authors with advertising links]/mods/skyrim/skyrim-better-performanceAlso, if you use it along with ENBoost, remember to rename the new d3d9.dll to something like d3d9x.dll, and go into ENB local.ini to add it to the proxy library. Also remember to get SKSE. Once you have that, download the preset .ini tweaks. I find them very useful. It's just so you don't have to go through and add them manually/individually. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51038/?And, as always, remember to fix z-fighting if your system can handle it. This will pretty much eliminate any distance/mountain flickering, at the cost of loading a lot of extra stuff very far away.http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Z-Fighting#tab=What_is_your_fix_3FThat should get you started. A lot of mods for everything have been updated in the time you've been away, and some staples for a load order have gone outdated. Remember to check the posts and dates, and go through the files of the month. I'd also check out a YouTube channel, Brodual. They're probably the best channel for regular popular mods; going back over some time will give you some great ones.Enjoy :)
