Schneidend Posted November 9, 2010 Share Posted November 9, 2010 I'm working on a mod I call Encounters, where I intend to put some unique variants of certain items that either did not get a unique variant (flamer) or were not in the game at all (pyro helmet/raider blastmaster helmet, surgeon mask, etc.) in the hands of some hostile NPCs, also of my own design, that should hopefully provide some interesting fights, or at least a few laughs from their eccentric nicknames and fighting styles. Trouble is, I just got the GECK working today and I'm still learning the ropes, having never used anything quite like it before. Seems like I'll be able to do what I want...eventually. In the meantime, though, maybe somebody else could try their hand at some unique variants? Nothing too overpowered, but some stuff that behaves differently or has a little more stopping power. Here's some ideas I'm thinking I might try:A flamer that doesn't immolate enemies, but simply burns through them with greater damage.A Light Machine Gun with more damage and a tighter spread, but a smaller magazine.A sledgehammer that weighs a lot more but would be useful for critical hit focused melee builds. Schneidend Posted November 9, 2010 Author Share Posted November 9, 2010 @DeadYorick: There are still unique weapons in New Vegas, and for some the only thing "unique" about them is that they come with the mods already installed and they have a different texture. Also, the mod system as it is doesn't let you create "unique" items, since no one weapon has more than three mods, and you can equip three mods. @MRG: Feel free to post the file as is so others can make use of it. If I get proficient enough with the GECK to finish my mod I'll either add your unique flamer in and credit you or come up with another idea for a flamer with different benefits/drawbacks. I saw a Mark 3 skin-job for the suppressed .22 pistol and would love to see a mod fore the .22 that added a unique one that did even less damage, but was essentially the same thing as the dart gun in FO3. The skin job was a Black Ruger Mark 3 it was pretty cool. I've never seen the .22 to be a useful weapon just more items to sell. dra6o0n Posted November 10, 2010 Share Posted November 10, 2010 New Vegas was kind of disappointing with the Workbench crafted weapons...Sure people would import the legacy and FO3 weapons but the idea is that Obsidian never bothered to balance out weapon creations... They just made new guns and throw it on shops and npcs for players to find. I mean, out of the entire game, in Vanilla... There's only TWO weapon blueprints you can find... The Powder Charge is one of those new unique weapons to NV, but it's the only one... They added the Rock-It launcher blue print, but I hear it's been broken in this game...Seriously?! Loads of weapons yes, loads of unique or customizable weapons? Not exactly. So for this topic I suggest: 1) Mods that adds additional weapon abilities/effects to guns (Assault Carbine being able to attach a Grenade Launcher or Shotgun addon).2) Unique weapons that doesn't just "point and shoot". Dart Gun in FO3 is unique because it deals specific damage to the enemy's movements.3) Tranquilizer Dart Gun, I mean really, there isn't one? I know there are melee weapons and ammo that does KO, but they don't do it instantly like a Tranquilizer Gun.4) AoE Guns, like grenade launchers being able to shoot Gas Rounds to damage your enemies' internal organs. Heck, a energy weapon that's capable of throwing Plasma Storms (damages enemies within a radius and turns them to ashes on death) is good too. Not even a little. If no custom textures are needed, I can probably do it all. In fact, let me see if I can't just make a tiddly little weapons pack for you, and if you want custom textures, you can put them on there later. EDIT: Well, I just tested the pack, and the tranq isn't working. I'll have to fix that before I post the version with the tranquilizer in it, but I plan on using the Abilene Kid LE BB Gun for the model. I created a new ammo type, which are basically bloatfly darts renamed to tranquilizer darts and tweaked a little. I think this gives it more realism, as they are much shorter-ranged than most other projectiles, even the thrown ones. That should balance it out a little more. I'll post the weapon pack without the tranquilizer gun in a few minutes, gotta go take it out real quick. Jimbo, if you can get me a retex of the LE BB gun, the sledgehammer, light machine gun, or silenced .22 pistol, I'll see if I can't mate them up with the items. 2ND EDIT:Yeah! I'm sure someone else could do it better, I just learned how to use GIMP, Nifskope, and Blender, but I could do a quick job if no one else will.
