Revising and Adding Settlements

This thread is not solely about The Strip. Please read it in full, i doubt you'll be disappointed about my, "rasp" :P, insights.

I reached The Strip only in todays game session. It is far to small. It feels more like Tranquility Lane, only that the latter was intended to seem virtual make-believe.

If the place is a joke, than the guys running the place are joke too. The NCR wouldn't try to beat Mr. Houses Securitons at Hoover Dam and rather have an agreement?

Nor Mr. House or The Strip are a force to recon with. When you have a center of power but only a center, that center can be smashed and there's nothing left.

Remove The Strip from the gameworld and the game no longer deserves the name New Vegas. What kind of game concept is that? Now imagine this:

Having The Strip as a single place appears to me be a misconception of developers now. The Strip should have been rather an idea spread all over the gameworld with gambling houses here and there like the Atomic Wrangler and some few big ones like the ones actually on the strip. Mr. House and the Families should have influence there too, Securitons would be there, he and families would be more believable as real powers in the gameworld the NCR would have to recognize. Imagine Nipton as a Gambling Town, it would add to the immorality of the place. It would be fitting for the Legion to smash it. Why is the bar in Boulder City a bar, should'nt it be better like the Atomic Wrangler? I could go on.

The Strip is supposed to stand out. It feels out, alright, but out of place. Would the desert give us some smaller places like the strip is, would it be controlled by families and Mr. House, the strip would not need to stand on it's own. It would be the sturdy stem of a tree branching out all over the desert. Each branch would give power to the trees appearance. The Strip iteself would feel bigger because somehow it would be everywhere.

I hope i gave some good ideas.

Olaf :)

Well, Mr. House himself says flat out that the NCR could wipe him out, if you follow his quest line. The only reason they don't is that it was pull resources from the fight with Caesar and leave their position vulnerable. House's entire hold on power pretty much relies on keeping these two forces in a position of relative parity. So it's not like the game is actually presenting the Strip as impregnable. However, I agree that it could stand to be bigger. I'd like all the towns to be bigger, for that matter.
