Hello!

Introducing myself as another n00b who just registered at the forum. I have completely fallen in love with the DA:O franchise - finally, something dislodged my long standing love for Vampire: the Masquerade Bloodlines. I came for the mods, but I'm interested in eventually making my own. As to that, I have a question - am I totally boned if I'm not a programmer? I'm pretty good at picking up how to use various programs, but only vaguely aware of programming. Is there something I should be learning or focusing on in order to be able to make my own mods?

well, i can say that you are not screwed (or whatever term you choose), you can still make mods

it just depends on what you are planning to make

because if you want to create new items, then you will need to learn how to model items, and create textures, which is pretty hard

but if you just want to make stuff with the game itself (as in quests, lands and such) then all you need to master is the CS (construction set, whose name i do not recall)

unfortunately, out of all the games on this site, the only one whose CS i have no site-tutorial, but i will search for one, and send you a link, if i find a good one

EDIT:

either that was a really quick search, of the site isn't as good as it looks

but it is here

so if you know what you want to make, and follow the instructions on the site, there is no reason why you shouldn't start modding, and make it work

just don't give up, because some mistakes don't want to be solved

but if you try hard enough, it should all work well :)

oh, and welcome to the Nexus
