Ysmene
Hello! Introducing myself as another n00b who just registered at the forum. I have completely fallen in love with the DA:O franchise - finally, something dislodged my long standing love for Vampire: the Masquerade Bloodlines. I came for the mods, but I'm interested in eventually making my own. As to that, I have a question - am I totally boned if I'm not a programmer? I'm pretty good at picking up how to use various programs, but only vaguely aware of programming. Is there something I should be learning or focusing on in order to be able to make my own mods? I'm pretty good at picking up how to use various programs, but only vaguely aware of programming. Is there something I should be learning or focusing on in order to be able to make my own mods? well, i can say that you are not screwed (or whatever term you choose), you can still make modsit just depends on what you are planning to makebecause if you want to create new items, then you will need to learn how to model items, and create textures, which is pretty hardbut if you just want to make stuff with the game itself (as in quests, lands and such) then all you need to master is the CS (construction set, whose name i do not recall)unfortunately, out of all the games on this site, the only one whose CS i have no site-tutorial, but i will search for one, and send you a link, if i find a good one EDIT:either that was a really quick search, of the site isn't as good as it looksbut it is hereso if you know what you want to make, and follow the instructions on the site, there is no reason why you shouldn't start modding, and make it workjust don't give up, because some mistakes don't want to be solvedbut if you try hard enough, it should all work well :) oh, and welcome to the Nexus
Ysmene
Thanks! I have a couple ideas bouncing around in my head, mostly for quests and such. I've played around with Reality Factory a little bit already, I'll probably spend a weekend soon tooling around with the CS.
