WastelandAssassin Posted November 10, 2010 Share Posted November 10, 2010 they can use any weapon you give themthe problem is, they always choose the strongest weapon, so if you give them a silenced .22 pistol or a riot shotgun, they will use the shotgun, regardless of your attempt to be silent....... still, there is no real way for you to choose which weapon they will use (at least, there is no way that i know of) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Do this by opening the console and then clicking on them. When their name appears in " " at the top of the screen, type in showinventory. The console will then list everything in their inventory. Find their weapon's 8-digit base ID number. Then, making sure they're still targeted in the quotes at the top, type in removeitem xxxxxxxx 1, filling in the x's for their weapon's ID. Now, they won't have their default gun anymore, so they will use any weapon you give them, assuming they have ammunition for it. If you want to give them more than one weapon, you might be able to influence their preferences by altering their stats? Target them in the console using the above method, and then type in forceav [skill] [number]. This will set their [skill] to the [number] of your choice. They may use a weapon with a higher rated skill more often than one with a lower rated skill, but still sometimes use the lower-rated one due to necessity or range.
