KoizuDDR
Hey there guys, I was tinkering with GECK earlier on today and wondered if somebody could help me out with a little project. I'm looking at making my own Fallout uhh.. I dunno how to call it, Chapter, Episode, whatever you wanna call it (not a total conversion mod, I'm merely creating new characters that have their own story within the Fallout 3 universe). What I'm trying to to is look at adding some mods into my "game" so that the NPC's can have different Type 3 body, custom hair, shojo race, whatever I decide to use/add, but I cannot seem to tell GECK that I want to pull the mods from those files into my file. I'm sorry if this isn't very clear, but this is the best I could describe it! Thanks in advance, and I look forward to hearing a reply.

Hey KoizuDDR, Don't know how much help I can be but here are a few pointers I've picked up over my short modding career.. hope they help =] 1. If you plan on releasing your mod to the public you should always ask permission before including other modder's content in your mod. Its both good ettiquette and avoids arguments over copywright and whatnot. 2. If you want to use other modder's content in your own mod there are a few steps to follow:-First create a new esp (mod file). This can be done by selecting "open" from the drop down menu and ticking fallout. -Once it has loaded, click save and choose a name for your file (e.g. MYMOD). -Now every time you want to edit your mod you'll have to click "open", then tick the box next to MYMOD. -To use other's content you must also tick the box next to their mod name when opening your file. Make sure MYMOD is set as the active file. -To use content from another mod you have to (at least in my experience) create a copy of all the things you want to move over. For example: If Falloutplayer123 has created a mod with a custom chair in it, I would have to follow the instructions above, then find the chair in the GECK and click "right click">"edit". I'd then have to change the ID of the chair from whatever it was before to MYMODChair (or whatever you choose). When asked if I want to create a new form I'd click "yes". Then place the new chair in the game. -Finally, you'd have to load up fallout with both the falloutplayer123's and MYMOD activated for the content to appear. There are tutorials available on where to find hair styles, races, etc.. online. Depending on how much you already know, you may just want to start on a basic, "getting to know the GECK tutorial". There are plenty in either article form or on youtube. Hope this helps some =]
