Fallout Maniac
I already have the custom sounds and I placed them in the Sound folder of data. When trying to set attack loop to it, it doesn't show up in the list. How do I make it show up in the list?
Fallout Maniac
Is there some sort of directory I need to place it in?
Moraelin
Heya. It think I can help. First of all, do you want to replace existing sounds, or are those sounds for a new weapon? If you're replacing existing sounds, basically the bare minimum you need to do is extract the existing sound files with directories, and look at the filenames for the ones you want to change. FO3Archive works for NV resource files too. If you're making new sounds for a new weapon, well, you're free to put them wherever you want. Because you'll also get to tell the game their name and path. (I would strongly suggest putting them in some subdirectory under Data\Sound, if you want to also distribute that mod later, though.) So just make your own directory under Data\Sound, dump your files there. Next you're going to have to start the GECK. If you've already done the rest of the mod, you already know how to set it as active and all, etc. Look in the tree under Audio/Sound. You'll have to create your own sound entries there, for each of your sounds. Probably the easiest is like for any other resource, to just open an existing one, change the editor ID, hit OK, say Yes. You probably know that drill already. Here is also where you can tell it what file to load. (Tip: if you want more than one possible sound for an action, you can make a directory with several .wav files and choose the directory here.) You can also set the atenuation (the higher the number, the more silent the sound), etc. Now you just need to go to your weapon and actually set it to use the sound entries you created, on the "Art And Sound" tab. If you want to change impact sounds and the like, you'll need to create an impact data set and set the impact data set on the weapon.
rickerhk
I was reading on the Bethsoft forum that people could not get a custom sound to work unless they placed the wav file in a directory under data\sound\fx
Moraelin
Hmm. Could be. I never tried putting it anywhere else, so no idea. I like to keep my files sorted like the game ones.
