DovaEagle
i havent been on the oblivion nexus in years, and oh man, OH MAN, all the new mods, the updates, the community! it's all so alive and exciting! i'm close to tears, the giddness and nostalgia are overwhelming! something about skyrim just never grabbed me like oblivion did. i've tried for years to get into that game, but it's just so much effort. it's not meant to be i suppose. then i came here today! looked at all the files, some of them (character overhaul 2, the most recent better cities update) are blowing my goddamned mind! steam needs to hurry up and finish my download so i can get hopelessly lost in cyrodiil again. Can't wait, thanks everyone who's contributed to the modding community after all these years.
vram1974
I agree, Skyrim is lacking a certain je ne sais quoi in the plot department. Perhaps it's the fact you have to be the dragon born whether you want to or not, which more or less renders you a hero even if you'd rather be an anti-hero. Oblivion offers more choices, even though you do have to do the daedric stuff, which I'm not a big fan of. The story development is richer in Oblivion and that's why it stands the test of time (9 years). The graphic improvements to this game make it nearly as good as Skyrim. With modern texture packs and using OBSE you can really make it 90% as good. it's only missing the Fallout and Skyrim killcam, which is my favourite. Legotrash
For me it's also the world itself. Forests, ponds, mountains, cities different from each other etc.
