Stygian
My Rig: OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bitCPU: Intel Core i5-4690k cpu @ 3.50 GHz (4 CPUsRAM: 8192MBGPU: AMD Radeon R9 280 Morrowind installed from disc on SSD in Program Files(x86) Both expansions (Tribunal installed first), latest patch. MGSO installed, extensively modded. His Rig: OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bitCPU: Intel Core i5-3570k CPU @ 3.40 GHz (4 CPUs)RAM:16 GBGPU: AMD Radeon HD 6900 seriesMorrowind installed through steam on HDD in Program Files(x86). Both expansions. MGSO intalled. No other mods. The crashes start happening after about 15 minutes of gameplay, but I have, on at least one occasion, played for maybe an hour without experiencing one. They seem to have to common cause. We've experienced the crashing in interior cells, exterior cells, in combat, out of combat, in dialogue, whatever. I've tried disabling anti-virus, running in XP compatibility mode (those two together and separately), disabling shadows, using hardware and software mods for sound, everything I can think of. The only thing our computers seem to have in common is the OS (installed from the same disc, even) and some of our hardware is from the same manufacturer. I have absolutely no clue what the issue could be (unless it's MGSO, but many people run that with no issue, so wat). I've downloaded an official Microsoft XP virtual machine to try running the game in that and see if anything changes but it seemed like a lot of trouble so I figured I'd ask before I go through and set it all up. Can anyone offer any help?
ZZZ02
morrowind like all bethesda games has memory problems due to it being made for 32 bit systems, your computer cannot help this. MGSO does aggravate this issue because the graphics fill up the memory for the game especially if you set the distant land high. try this, it may help reduce the issues: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12801/? (yes it is on the skyrim nexus but it works for morrowind I have used it) but the best way to help may be to reduce the distant land or anything marked with red on the setup. I wish there was an ENBoost for a modded morrowind
hollaajith
First of all, move the game out of Program Files. Morrowind was released before Vista, so it doesn't work correctly in program files with UAC, virtualization etc. Just cut the Morrowind folder and paste it at say, C:\Games or may be a different drive. Second, try installing 4GB patch and EXE Optimizer. It helps the game work correctly on newer systems. More info on how to install here.
