HaikenEdge
I'm just partial to the Hardballer in terms of 1911 variants. I guess you could say that I like the physical design more than the original, if you will; to me, it just looks aesthetically pleasing, all without losing the functionality of the 1911

I really like the basic black m1911 as well though. And the silver one if it isn't too shiny, I remember thinking to myself in fallout 3 when I first got the 1911 mod, "It looks a little 'too' polished". HaikenEdge
I think it's fine if a gun is shiny and clean, so long as you're finding it wrapped inside of a unopened box, and not on somebody after it's been used a long time. Proper firearm maintenance can take a good gun a long way.
Mkodadek
I would love to see a functional 1911 myself. Though personally it'd be fun to have a few models to play with. For example, imagine an officer's model in game. Small and compact it could be used as a holdout weapon for casinos and since we are talking about the greatest combat pistol ever made (yeah, I'm frigging biased as hell) they'd have to be upgradable. Suppressors, maybe mag chutes to facilitate faster reloads, you could replace the base iron sights with tritium or fiber optics. Still, the bare bones GI model would be sweet as well, just as a testament to JMB (John Moses Browning for the unwashed heathens). It would be cool to see Hardballers, Delta Elites, Longslides, and GI Model 1911's in game though. It would also be great to see some classic 1911 calibers like .38 Super in game as well but then again I try not to hope for too much. I totally get what you're saying about the aesthetics on the AMT line of pistols...I'm kind of miffed that Safari Arms bought out all the production rights to the line and have done nothing with said weapons, they had some awesome designs and they were the heralds of the Stainless Steel 1911. They were built like tanks, they can shoot all day, and if I ever find one when I have the spare cash I'm buying it. As for Metal Gear Solid? In Snake Eater the 1911 was used by big boss, in Guns of the Patriots Snake rocks a Springfield Operator, the PMC's (private military contractors) in the same game carry Sig GSR 1911's. Proper firearm maintenance can take a good gun a long way.I agree. I never cared for finding a gun in prestine condition in the hands of some grubby raider or something. If it's been sealed up in a box or in the hands of people who really take pride in their firearms, then it'd make sense That being said, if my M1911 gets made, I don't want it looking extremely polished unless I find it locked in a safe or in the Lucky 38. Also, I couldn't agree more with you, Mkodadek. Kudos.
Artimise
I agree, the M1911 is one of my most favorite pistols ever. I hope whoever takes on this project listens, and makes them look a bit beaten. I'm not too fond of all these mods that drop in pristine off the shelf clean weapons, it ruins the immersion for me. The current 9mm is similar in some very small areas to an M1911, but that's just it, it's only "similar" it's not a true blue M1911! By the way, being a newbie for the most part to ammunition, what vanilla FONV ammo would be close to the 45.ACP that the 1911 fires?

Either 10mm or .44 Magnum, but both are REALLY stretching it. Maybe 12.7 but that's stretching it too. It's not hard to make your own ammo in the GECK, I figured out how to do it in less than a minute.EDIT: 10mm is possible. There are, sadly, .40 S&W (Which is 10mm short (and weak)) M1911s on the market today. There are also, for some ungodly reason, .50GI (NOT Action Express) caliber (12.7mm) M1911s too. str03mm3n
Or why not the M1914? Basicly the 1911 just with some minior customs. The one true military handgun Norway ever had. Damn those 9mm..
