Object Placing Trick

The only good thing about Morrowind not having a physics engine (not a very sophisticated one, if it does) was that Object placing was very well done in the game. I would be able to place everything in my house the way I wanted it too look, even dining tables full of crab meat and such! But in Oblivion, the object placement when you "drop" the item from your inventory is significantly different. Instead of the item sticking to the table and staying on it, it appears a meter above the table in which I am trying to place it then. And because of the physics system, the apple drops and bounces off the table and rolls across the floor. Is there some sort of trick to placing objects in Oblivion that I have just not got the hang of?

Use the grab key. It lets you take things you can move with your weapon/inventory dropedness (made it up, suckas, don't steal it!), but it is really hard to get the hang of. I mainly use it to make guards look gay in front of female charactars (bwa ha ha, but it's a good thing I don't have that weiner mod). I guess they're lesbos, because they don't even seem remotely interested (joke, I'm not dumb, it would take alot more space to get people to get sexually aroused, or even show signes of interest)!

There is a mod which makes placing objects easier. The Decorator Assistant mod. You can summon something, and when you drag an item above it, it will not rotate anymore. Then you can move it to wherever you want, and when you drop it, it will slowly fall down to the ground. You can also lock them, so they won't move anymore. Nothing will react on it then, so you can't accidently bump them of the table.
