GTech
When I got the GECK in Fallout 3, the first thing I wondered was if I could possibly make my own Fallout game with the GECK. After further knowlege, I got the idea that I should go and re-make Fallout 1 and 2 with the main quest's, NPCs and maps (redone maps). From someone who does not have a whole lot of experience with Fallout 1 and 2, is this a good idea and is this technically possible? Fallout New Vegas has a lot in common with the first two so I could also be able to bring back some of the old locations from Fallout 1 and 2 also (I really want to remake New Reno). Would definitely be possible. The problem is you would be doing on your own what Bethesda had years to create (talking about FO3/NV)

Obsidian took about 2 years to create New Vegas with a game studio. I think that it wouldn't be as long as the designing was for Fallout 3, because the music, writing, and design is already there, I just need to copy the writing and design, and drag the music files to my new project, and a lot of the items from Fallout 1/2 to 3/NV have similar models. I am starting with Fallout 2 just because I always thought that was my favorite, and it would be easier to make because I am unsure about how to make Fallout 1 at the moment with the time limit in the game. FutureVisions
You can use global values to set time limits. I havent played FO1 so im not sure exactly of what you need. But in any case there are already several types of global values that you can use to keep track of the in-game time. GameHour, GameDay, GameYear, and maybe others.
simplywayne90
It'd actually be a lot harder than you can imagine, because many of the things in Fallouts 1 and 2 had detailed models and were only used once, since the graphics weren't great the models for objects and inventory items could be very diverse, people would hate anything that didn't at least match that. However try looking into Fallout 2161 the mod over at modDB Also I'm working on restoring just the special encounters and that alone will take a lot of scripting, a new worldspace, lots of mods, custom models, and writing and dialog, just to put how large of an idea this really is.
