textures in nifskope are different than in geck/ingame

I've been making my own hair mesh just as a test to learn how to actually use nifskope etc and I've run into this problem.

I've got the model working, and the hair points to the right texture both in geck and in nifskope but the results are wildly different, as seen in the following image:

what could be causing this? I have no idea because I kinda just stumbled through nifskope until it worked in it, but it's all f*#@ed up in game.

Open up a vanilla hair in nifskope and compare the Shader Flags found in the BSShaderPPLightingProperty, also make sure all the NiTriShapeData is correct (Vertex Colors, ect).

I seemed to have fixed the textures as in it's pointing to the correct ones now, but they're all muddy or something.

I'm not sure what this means or how to fix though :c

in the showracemenu, the texture shows up when you view it at certain angles, but most of the time and all the time ingame it's a solid pink like that. the alpha map is defintely working, but the texture doesn't seem to be. I'm gonna poke around my highlight map and see if it's that but if it's not I really don't know what else it is.
