A hidden world in New Vegas

Firstly I do not come even close to having the skill to do this so I am throwing this idea out there purely as an "Imagine if......" idea just in case anyone with the skills liked the idea.

Before the big war that turned the world into the one we see in Fallout 3 and FONV there were obviously computers and networks more advanced than what we have now in real life. I would love to come across a science facility somewhere with a computer terminal setup and a large ominous mounted energy weapon pointed at the chair in front of the computer.

(Anyone see where I am going with this yet?)

When the player uses the computer what comes up on the screen should be something that sounds like the player has come across some old agressive AI program. There should be an option in the computer for the player to shut down the AI program but when they try the AI will write something like, "I'm sorry but I cannot let you do that." The player automatically comes out of using the computer but the AI program fires the laser and zaps the player.

(Surely someone has guessed by now where this is going?)

Instead of dying though, they could suddenly find themselves in a strange neon looking world. Their inventory is gone and they only have themselves and maybe some glowing disc like throwing weapon. The world if filled with strange people in neon outfits who refer to themselves as programs and wonder what has happened in the world of the users to cause the devastation in their own world.

Lets face it, a nuclear war in the real world would break apart many of the neworks that would make up a world within cyberspace so their could be all kinds of fun to be had if anyone fancied having a go at building a Tron-like world to enter via FONV.

As far as building it, it should be graphically far less of a challenge than many of the graphics in FONV. It would be all smooth lines and colours would all be fairly solid colours and lights.

It is a total deviation from the game but could be quite fun. Anyone else like the idea?

Like the plot, but isn't it effectively Tron? Not that there's a problem with that :)

Hell, a Tron conversion would make a fair few squidge themselves no doubt.

It isn't effectively Tron. It IS Tron. That is the best thing about the idea. It is quite a divergence from the theme of this game but no more so than "Mothership Zeta" or the Brotherhood of Steel expansion where you had to help fight off the Chinese in Alaska, I forget it's name. I only put this idea out there as I am looking at the potential for all the different wonderful possibilities that can be created by altering and adding things to this game.

I have played a lot of computer games in my life and so far I think Bethesda games are the best ever. Not because they are bug free, they aren't. Not because they have the best graphics ever, they don't. Bethesda games are the best because they build a fantastic game and then handed out the tools for people to create what they want. At the moment I am enjoying playing New Vegas and I have only just started playing around with the GECK. Other computer games are like Monopoly. The rules are the rules and you play it by them. Because of the GECK and other programs, this game is like LEGO. Build it like you want to play it.

Once I complete New Vegas will I move onto another game? Hell no!! I will be diving head first into the GECK and any other program I can find that allows me to gain more control over what I can alter in this game. I have a hundred different ideas at least for things I would like to do with the engine for this game. I just don't have the technological knowhow to complete any of the ideas. One day I plan to though.
