bradisasmurf Posted November 15, 2010 Share Posted November 15, 2010 Thanks for taking the time to view this thread. So, I was thinking about making a mod which adds magic to the Wasteland. I know it isn't in the lore, but please hear me out. There are two reasons I want to do this: 1) I really like the Genesis of Shannara trilogy by Terry Brooks and feel like playing something similar to it would be very fun; and 2) It would give me something to do with AP (which is currently useless to me because I don't use V.A.T.S.) So I was wondering if y'all could help by pointing me in the right directions relative to what knowledge I would need to pull this off. As I said, this would be my first modding attempt; my only experience with G.E.C.K. has been to change the textures of modded items to get rid of the <!>s. Also, if anyone would like to help with this project, I'd be greatly appreciative. I have little-to-no experience with this stuff and I'm not good at all with creating graphics. But I am good at creating a plan and executing it. One last thing: Would it be illegal/against the EULA to port Oblivion spells into NV (if at all possible, that is). Thanks. vampessa Posted November 15, 2010 Share Posted November 15, 2010 GECK note this can also be pulled up at any stage through the editor its self by clicking "Help" Also have a mooch through the nexus modding forums for tutorials/help. Since this is your first mod I would suggest starting with something small to get you used to working with the GECK editor, there are tutorials you can use on the GECK page (eg my first vault etc) they will help if you are not used to making mods, as for "magic" not so sure it can be done that well, you could possibly do perks or make specific weapons/ammo types to give the appearance of "spells" I think it has been attempted in the past but not sure how successfull it was. Best RegardsVampessa Thanks for the reply. I've seen a couple of MODs which have "spells," but those seem to be new weapons. What I'm looking for is a way to make a diverse set of effects that use AP. I have looked at the G.E.C.K. tutorials, but I was wondering if anyone had more detailed experience with modding magic-like effects.
