Essential Mods?

Recommended Posts

After a very long time (over a year) I just repurchased TES, the GOTY edition with all the DLC included. What mods would most people consider 'essential' to really improving my experience, gameplay and fun -- Which are also compatible with all the DLC content? I should add, I saw the mod lists above, but most are at least somewhat, out of date or very large. I am looking for maybe 5-10 mods tops that will enhance and improve my game (as I never beat any of the official quests).

All opinions welcome!

Thanks in advance!

First you'll want to make sure you have obse, as most decent mods require it now. Also, OBMM and wrye bash are highly recommended, as they can make your life much easier.

Now, my top 5:

1.Natural Weather.

2.Animated Window and Light System

3.Enhanced Economy

4.Darnified UI

5.Toaster Says Share.

Here's some essential utilities:

1. OBMM

2. Wrye Bash

3. BOSS

4. LandMagic

These manage to make your mods play well together.

These are essential plugins

1. OBSE

2. Elys Universal Silent Voice

3. FastExit

4. Oblivion Stutter Remover

5. Pluggy

6. SystemDialog

Here's my list of essential "helper" mods:

1. COBL (now has a Denock Arrow in it)

2. Toggleable Quantity Prompt

3. What's That From

4. No More Annoying Comments

5. Move Quest Items

6. Adventures Memo

7. NoGuildmasterKick

These fix various playability issues/annoyances in the game.

After that, you get into player houses, quests, environmental beautification, new/prettier races/bodies, armor and weapons - all of which depend on your tastes...

Is it possible, in a way, get most of the needed files /texture packs that improve gameplay In a torrent? I can help seed it, and I don't want to miss any files.

Theoretically, it should be possible. Although you should get the co-operation of the various authors, just for being polite if nothing else. So far, I don't know of anyone thats' done this, as everyone has they're own opinion about what files/texture packs are most needed.

You would need permission from each and every author to redistribute their files.

Even if you somehow did convince them, the authors, of this I think it's a horrible idea. People barely read the ReadMe's anyway it seems. So one full package with potentially hundreds of ReadMe files means the chances of people even glancing over each one is close to none. Consolidating so many mods into one download will give many people the idea that it should work "out of the box". With that, many people would never have a functional game due to the necessary steps to achieve compatibility amongst mods with various patches and such.
