Fallout New Vegas Ammo and Their Effects into Fallout 3

Ok, first and foremost I want to make clear that this is for personal use only. I have no intention whatsoever of posting this mod or any actual changes on a forum or modding site, as that would be illegal.

 

But I wondered if it was possible to convert/import Fallout New Vegas Ammo and their effects into Fallout 3. It's a somewhat dangerous proposistion, as I'm not sure that the original engine of Fallout 3 is familiar with the types of scripts used in the geck and Fo3editor. Is it possible? Because that would make my life considerably easier, especially as I'm trying to add a number of new lore friendly weapons that use the ammo present in both Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
