mattt1991
i know it wouldn't be too particularly easy. but i was thinking about a Alignment compass mod for oblivion. using statistics from your game-play, along with other stuff to sort your character into alignments like Lawful Good, or Chaotic Evil. all the characters would start out at True Neutral, with each race and possibly class having an effect on how close to the other alignments the character starts out, and by doing certain things in game, the compass would move more towards one side. for example, say an argonian starts out True Neutral, but slightly more towards Chaotic Neutral. and by doing acts considered lawless, such as stealing and trespassing, their alignment would slowly start to shift to Chaotic neutral. where as if that same argonian started killing NPCs unprovoked, they would move more towards the evil side of the compass. Magic could be incorporated into this as well, with furthering restoration moving the compass towards the good side, and conjuration more towards the evil side. alteration, mysticism, and illusion would be neutral. but this is all just my personal opinion. alchemy could also play a role, creating potions good, creating poisons evil. but all these to only a small degree. i don't really want this to be based on Fame and Infamy, because honestly, there are some infamous good people. as well as some famous evil people. it wouldn't really effect anything in-game. it could if whoever were to make it wanted it to, but i just would like to see it because it would interest me to see how different characters turn out on the compass. thanks in advance
David Brasher
In Oblivion the "Infamy" stat does not correspond to the definition of "infamy" in the dictionary. Likewise with "Fame." (Although fame is closer to the book definition in function.) Infamy in Oblivion totals up your evil acts (especially if you get caught.) The number tends to just get higher and higher and there is no good way to repent and make restitution. Fame, on the other hand totals up how many big quests you complete. So it does not measure righteousness at all, except in that many of the quests are for good characters and involve doing good deeds, so that if you have completed lots of quests, you have done lots of good deeds. So a very evil character could have a very high fame rating. I think it would be good if there was a statistic that measured your goodness and could go both up and down instead of just having the infamy number go higher and higher. It was cool in Fable how if you became a really wicked character, people were scared of you and afraid to talk to you.
