Laser Beam Thickness

Is there any way to get the thicker laser beam you get when you use the Optics focus, on a non-modded laser pistol or rifle?

By non-modded, do you mean with weapon mods? Because if you do, the answer is yes, but it involves the Geck. If you give it very minimal spread, and increase the number of projectiles fired, the beam increases in thickness with each projectile you add. If you're concerned about balance, just take the total damage, and divide by the number of projectiles. Voila, you have a thicker beam, and the same damage! Hope that answers the question, but if not, I'll tinker around and get back to you.
