Nordicmax
So, until now i've been playing a lot of oblivion on my Macbook, using low graphics, but now, i've installed oblivion to my iMac Snowleopard, because it can handle better graphics, which makes the game more enjoyable. I have one problem though. I've moved the saves from my Macbook's save folder to my iMac's Oblivion save folder, so i won't lose all the work i've done on my characters. Now, whenever i try to load the saves on my iMac, Oblivion stops responding and i have to quit it... I've tried the old autosave trick to fix the corrupt saves, doesn't work, Oblivion still won't respond. I've tried the saves on my Macbook, they work there. I do have different mods used on my iMac, is that it? I've tried making a new character and playing, works perfectly, the only issue i have is not being able to load the old save games... Please help me, i've spent a lot of time on these characters and i don't want to lose it..
WastelandAssassin
well, you have basically answered it yourself, as far as i can tell you have different mods in your first game, so when you try to load the save without these mods, it will probably make the game crashjust make sure that your second game is installed properly and patched, and either add the mods you are missing, or remove them from the original saves (which might not be so easy, if there are many) you need to make sure that all the mods that are used by your saves, are found in your second game
Nordicmax
Ohh, didn't think about that, thanks, will try it!:) I didn't think that it was such a big problem with having different mods when you load a save game, but apparently it is. I do have disabled watershader in the Oblivion.ini on my Macbook, could that be it? I also have mods on my iMac that i don't use on the Macbook, but is it really an issue if i take a save from a game, and put it in a game where i already have some new mods active? Another thing, the load order is probably different on the two computers, shall i fix it so it is exactly the same? I tried playing the game with the exact save on my Macbook today, worked perfectly...
WastelandAssassin
ok ok, lets look at it in an easy way you have two devices, lets call them D1 and D2 (because it's late here, and i can't remember the names of the devices well enough)now, your save was made on D1, which had several mods loaded when the save was madewhen you transfer the save to D2, it must have ALL the mods that were present on D1however, if you have mods on D2 that weren't on D1, it shouldn't cause a problem so just make sure that all the mods that you had on the original device are present on the second device, and it should solve the problem

I now have all mods on D2 which i had on D1. However, i have turned off watershader on D1 in the oblivion.ini, and not on the D2. I have a different load order on both devices. Are these any issues? WastelandAssassin
well, i'm not sure about the watershader thing, so this is something that you should probably test to see having a different load order shouldn't be a problem, as far as i know, as long as you have all the needed mods the best way to go is give the save a try, and see if it loads properly
Nordicmax
Well, as i said above, i removed all the mods on D1 which i don't have on D2, and made a couple of saves on the characters i want to have on D2. I transferred the saves to D2, and tried to load them. The loading screen came up, and then Oblivion stopped to respond... But, i'll try tomorrow with enabling the watershader on D1, could be that. WastelandAssassin
well, if you are enabling watershader on D1, don't forget to save the game again, and use that save on D2, to see if it works now
