stationarytraveller
It'sa great mod and it would be nice to see it in NV. I have very limited modding knowledge (I tried changing the master file from Fallout3.esm to FalloutNV.esm) and it seemed to load. After running it with NVSE there was a lot of lag and no functionality. I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on this case. Thanks!
dannyjackson
Well seeing as this is the only thread that's on FTB, I thought I'd chip in on the request too. NV is possibly the closest thing to a true Fallout sequel. It'd really be great if someone can convert FO3's FTB mod to NV. The videos of it look really neat. stevie70
just out of curiosity, where's the point in making the game turnbased? i mean, what else, basically, is v.a.t.s.? just that how long the turn is is determined by how fast you can hit the v-key :-)
dannyjackson
Well for starters, VATS isn't turn-based. It's just an odd attempt at simulating it. And the point? Making it less twitch-based I guess, and at the same time more reliant on skills; also, to reconstruct a familiar experience in a canonical setting. Moraelin
Hmm... Why not convert it for yourself? You just need to open it in TESsnip (included in FOMM), click the TES4 record in the tree in the top-left, then double click the MAST sub-record in the lower-left, and change it from "Fallout3.esm" to "FalloutNV.esm". Save, exit, play turn based. Congrats, you just did your first mod.
dannyjackson
Interesting. I've got no modding experience with FO3/NV, that's why I didn't know. I'll give it a shot thanks. Right, it doesn't crash anymore on startup, but the game chugs at 1 frame every 10 seconds. I'm thinking it's more complicated than that. Ah well. FlyingHigh10000000
So, how exactly does that even work? Combat is turn-based, and travel/exploration isn't? (This all sounds very interesting, to be honest. I loved the original Fallout games.)
Moraelin
The way it works, really, is that during VATS you don't get any special bonuses -- you do and take just as much damage as normally -- and enemies get some time after you finish your stuff to shoot at you and whatnot. Then when you exit VATS, your AP recharge very fast, so you can hit VATS again. So literally you can play the game with real time exploration and whatnot, and turn based combat. stealthtank91
another way is to download reqium for a wasteland mod and then you dont have to port it, just download FOSE in addition to your working NVSE and use it along side FalloutNV.esm it worked for me after i disabled all my other mods. its still a bit laggy tho
Moraelin
It only works with requiem because that one has a Fallout3.esm, which it uses as a master file. Porting it like above would just make it depend on FalloutNV.esm instead.
