Maicol0815
Hello, OK, so I loaded up a save of one of my old characters and when I search through my weapons tab in either a trade/loot screen or on the pipboy there is something that keeps causing my game to crash. Now you might say that it's an old save probably corrupted, but the thing is I haven't installed any new heavy mods since I last played on that character and there wasn't any problem when I stopped playing on it."I have no idea which item it is, however when I did "player.showinventory" in the console there was the Tri-beam Laser Rifle and a note beside it that says "[CANNOT EQUIP]", can this weapon be the problem? To make this clear, the game doesn't crash as soon as I open the weapons tab, but rather when I scroll down for a while it suddenly crashes meaning that a certain item is making it crash whenever I get to it in the inventory." is what I would've said if I didn't look into it a bit more. When I click and hold the scroll bar to the left (in my pipboy, don't know about trading/looting screen) and drag it down quickly the game DOESN'T crash, but as soon as I start scrolling "slowly" in the menu it does. This is incredibly frustrating. My other newer character ("this year new") doesn't have this problem!Anyone have an idea what the problem might be? Is it in fact just one single item? What mod could possibly cause something like this? Thanks in advance!P.S I'm sorry if this is the wrong thread for this but I'm quite sure it's a mod error. claustromaniac
Take a good look at this. <-- That's probably the reason. I don't know whether a similar mod for NV exists or not, but if it doesn't, you can still make your own easily if you know how to use FNVEdit. You just need to shorten the stats' short names in the ActorValue Information records. For example from Crit. chance to CRIT, Rad Res. to RR, and so on. Maicol0815
UPDATE: Whenever I hover over my Laser RCW in the weapons menu it crashes. Like as soon as my cursor gets to that particular item in my inventory it crashes.

Why else would I bother taking my time to say that, otherwise? All I'm going to say is that it happened to me once, and it forced me to make a patch for myself long ago. Except that, in my case, it took me a while to figure it out.I can't say that I'm completely sure this is the cause of that particular CTD of yours, but it's the only known cause to me for what you're describing. I see, well it seems to be my Laser RCW that is causing the crash it seems, but it doesn't really have any effects, however it has a modification on it (can't remember which) and it's not bugged like that on other weapons, only on the Laser RCW, so it seems a bit far-fetched. I thank you, though. Edited March 11, 2015 by Maicol0815

I thank you, though. Whoa. That sucks. Well, I certainly do not know what else could be causing that but I can suggest one thing that I would try to test if it is a problem with that particular weapon or with the base object for that weapon.Look for the FormID of the weapon in FNVEdit and write it down somewhere.Load the game, open the console and select your character.Type removeitem FormID 1, where FormID would be the FormID you just wrote down.Close the console and make sure the item is not in your inventory, then open it up again, and...Type additem FormID 1.If step 4 fails, it's probably savegame corruption. If it doesn't, but the newly added weapon still makes your game crash, it most likely means that it has to do with the base object, which in turn means that it is indeed an external problem with at least one of your mods. Good luck! Edited March 11, 2015 by claustromaniac
