WillowCat
Hi kind folks! I was trying to make a "perfect Alistair experience" and I seem to have broken Alistair Romance Fixes mod. None of the hug/touch/etc options appear in dialog with him. Of course, I'm sure I'\ve ccaused this with all the installing/uninstalling/editing I've done trying to fix things. I'd like to save this game if possible, but if I need to start all over I need to know what to do to make sure it works next time. You help would be much appreciated! Here's the (homefully enough) info: 2. Yep, I inistalled a bunch of mods, and then uninstalled them, and I'm sure that's where I introduced the problem. 3. . All of DahliaLynn's mods *do* work so far, including: First Night, Visible Kiss, Nightmare, Sleep Till Dawn. I've got swom 3. I also have installed, are working, and I don't think are3 involved in the problem: JB3,Natual Bodies (ummmm, yeah...) PineappleTree's Vibrant Colors (light, I think), Dragon Age Redesigned (wow, beautiful!), No Helmet Hack, Extra Dog Slot, Skip the Fade. 4. I have TMP Mild Romance installed and it seems to work, but as it involves Alistair I can't rule out a conflict here. 5. These things are installed but haven't triggered yet: Alistair's Dark Ritual, The Proposal 6. Things I installed manually because why not and then uninstalled at various points trying to fix: ZDF (Zevran Dialog Fix), Rondevous at the Tavern, More Options at the Pearl, ZevRing, Ze Romance Scenes, ZRS-IRS Compatibility Patch. I also installed and then removed Better Sex Scenes (I much prefer Mild Romance - who knew I was such a romantic?) NOTE: I did remove 4 lines from IRS Slistair that the instructions told me to to get compatibility with ZDF. 6a. I definitely got new party banter from ZDF. 7. There is another mod that gave me a camp tent that prevented Sleep Till Dawn from running. When I removed it I got Sleep Till Dawn, but maybe this caused a problem? There was also a file mora.lel.dazip that I installed and unsinstalled and it seemed shady for some reason (I'm sure it's a perfectly nice file but I don't know when or why I installed it). 8. Currently all my .dazip mods are installed with DAOModmanager, and all others is in their appropriate folders in my Override folder. 9. On my very first go-round I used Nexus ModManager to do all the downloads and installs I could, and I loaded it up - dance party, etc. Tthen I unchecked everything in there and used DAOModManager and putting things into Override exclusively. Oh, at some point I also had things installed with DAModmanager -- I uninstalled all those within DAModManager (correctly or not? seemed right). 10: Obviously now I have to Force Load, but the3 game is pretty stable when I do, other than still not having the IRS content. 11. I truly think that none of IRS is working at all -- for example, there was no added dialog option after Goldana. 12. Somethingweird happened when Alistair's First Night triggered. You know how the original kiss was broken with Alistair looking at the fire while the Warden is kissing him? Well in the modded version he's still looking at the fire, but the Warden is leaping all over an invisible Alistair, waving her hands like flippers, gazing romantically while suspended in air -- hilarious, actually, but it's clearly missing the effect of an awesome kiss. After the levitating flipper kiss they go to Warden's tent and have a lovely, steamy first night sesh with no glitches. Here are my questions: 1. Where should I look for things to really and truly get rid of all traces of the mods I don't want, so I can do a clean install of the ones I do want? Including Override Folder, DAOModManager folder, and any other Dragon Age folder. 2. Do I need to abandon my current saves and start a new game, if I'm willing to live with the force loads? 3. What should I then install to get a solid, compatible modded game that includes IRS for Alistair? Here's what I really do want:JB3Natural BodiesPT's Vibrant ColorsDragon Age RedesignedNo Helmet HackExtra Dog SlotSkip the Fade, if possibleMild Romance ScenesAll of DahliaLynn's Alistair modsand, of course, Improved Romance Scenes - Alistair Can anyone help? DahliaLynn
Just wanted to quickly mention, if you have a mod that utilizes Alistair's dialogue, (Alistair Dialogue Fix or similar) it will conflict with IRS. IRS is dialogue driven for the most part and only one mod can use his main dialogue file at a time unfortunately. After reading through your post it seems like IRS is completely disabled, as that kiss prior to the first night is buggy. (Though my Alistair's First night does happen to include fixes for it) Try to look for files with the same name in your override. If that happens, you have a conflict. Hope this may help? WillowCat
Wow, DahliaLynn! I just had a fan girl moment - ok, I'm better now. :). Thank you for replying. I think I have it fixed. For anyone else with similar issues, here's what I did: For very app I used to install a mod, I went and uninstalled them all (except DLC). I also took everything out of my override folder and parked it elsewhere. I rebooted my PC just on general principle. Then I went back in DAOmodmanager and systematically installed *only* the mods I needed, and that I had verified as being probably compatible. The rest of the mods I was using id put back into my override file, again being sure I knew exactly what I was putting in and why. Finally, I gave up on my old game saves and started a completely new game. I did realize I had another possible problem earlier. I had moved some of the dazip files to other folders after installing them with DAOmodmanager. I don't know if it looks back to file locations but I suspect it may. Before starting the new game I did go back in the old one and verified that the installs were working. All were, except still no IRS camp options. Anyway, with the new game everything is working very well, and I think I do have IRS. At least, I seem to be having dialog options I never saw before (did I always have the option of telling Fergus' wife I might have three lovers? I don't recall that!). I haven't romanced Alistair yet, so I won't know for a while if I have those romance related new dialog options. So, two questions for you if I may: 1. What are some things I can look for to know if IRS is working? Specific dialogs that are changed here earlier on? I'm currently finishing Redcliff castle, then I'll do the mage's tower. Alistair is at about 55 approval (still neutral - I'm holding off on gifting this time). So far all the dialog with him seems to be following the usual pattern. Oh by the way I'm a Prince, oh let me tell you about that nightmare, etc. 2. I've now got your first night kiss (verified in the previous game) and it works, but before (a conflicting mod) had a very different first night kiss that involved warden wrapped around him like a monkey, kissing madly (though he was staring in the fire - very weird). Do you know what mod that was coming from? ETA: or is the hot monkey kiss part of your first night? If so, then I'm not sure which first night kiss I've got now - it's fairly low key - could be the one from mild_sexscenes? And thank you so much for replying! DahliaLynn
Wow, DahliaLynn! I just had a fan girl moment - ok, I'm better now.. Lol! :D 1. I recall providing a fix for that kiss in my Alistair's first Night files, though I'm unsure if I included the fix in my IRS compatible version. And thank you so much for replying! You're most welcome! It's nice to know that players are still enjoying Dragon Age: Origins :)
theskymoves
OP, I didn't read through the entire discussion, and so apologize if you've figured things out already, but if you are using the version of TMP's Mild Romance scenes that is currently available for download on BSN, you should be aware that is not compatible with IRS-Alistair, even when using the version of that mod that is labelled as being compatible... the current version of Mild Romance scenes post-dates the current version of IRS-A. I recommend using the version of IRS-A that already includes the changes from an earlier version of Mild Romance scenes, rather than the Mild Romance compatible IRS-A. The only thing you'll be missing, AFAIK, is an additional scene that triggers if the Dark Ritual is refused. And there actually is a workaround if you want that scene and IRS-A... I'll see if I can dig that up. ETA that when I inquired on BSN as to the continued compatibility of the two mods, tmp was kind enough to offer the following workaround: afraid not, in the sense this version of the mod won’t have the things IRS adds on its own, and IRS doesn’t have a way to trigger the new scene. As a work-around, you could simply uninstall IRS for a moment when you reach Redcliffe castle and install this version of the mod, choose the scene, then remove the mod and put IRS back. Or alternatively, unpack this mod to ‘override/toolsetexport’ folder so it gets higher priority, and remove it after you’re done viewing the scene, so IRS can work again.
