EDIT: Misleading title, sorry. I meant to put Modding Morrowind on Steam

I bought Morrowind on Steam and started modding it in order to play 1920x1080 because any 4:3 resolution for me is unplayable (I know, I'm spoiled). I've tried using Nexus Mod Manager, Morrowind Graphics Extender, and a few other programs/mods to enhance my game so that I could play at 16:9, but sadly every time I have, it usually ends up with it telling me that it can't find my game directory, or to run the game at least once. I even tried going to my game directory by using regedit and editing my width and height values, and after I save it, I launch Morrowind and it goes right back to 1024x768. Then, I go back to my game directory and I see that the resolution is reset. I assume that it's because my Morrowind is on Steam, and since it's on Steam it's a different directory. Is there a way I can get 1920x1080 on Steam? I've had this problem for quite a long time now, and I've been searching all over the internet for a fix, but no dice.

Thanks for answers in advance.

It's not steam it's probably where you installed MW. If you allowed it to install to it's default location (C:\Program Files) then it's going to run into problems with Microsoft's user protection protocols which will undo changes to anything in that folder on a pretty sporadic basis on any computer that's running a microsoft OS from Vista upwards.

Move your morrowind installation (probably wise to move you're entire steam installation because all moddable games have this issue) to some place other than program files. Most people create a C:\Games folder for this with good effect.

^^ This. You can safely move steam installation. CLICK I would move it to a different drive, say D:\Games or something like that.

If you are using any texture replacer, then make sure you run Morrowind Code Patch atleast once. It redates the game BSAs. Also, many mods for morrowind predates Nexus Mod Manager, hence not compatible with it. Its best to know how to install mods manually for morrowind.

This is what I do, and I haven't needed to move my installation.

First, run the Morrowind.exe as an administrator, go to the main menu in the game itself, and then quit.

Second, download it from here specifically:

http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/41102/?

Copy everything, and place it in your steam/steamapps/common/Morrowind directory - where the main Morrowind .exe is. Put it all in there.

And lastly, go here:

http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/26348/?

Download the MGE file available. Once downloaded, copy all of it and stick it in the Morrowind directory again, it should overwrite several files.

Run MGE from this directory as an administrator, and it should open and work fine. Tell me how it goes. I was in the same boat and no version but that one worked for me.

I followed all the steps listed, but it says: "Unable to find Morrowind registry keys. Please run the game as administrator before installing MGE." I ran Morrowind.exe as adminstrator already, and did it three more times just in case. I then ran the MGE file given to me. However, it says MGEXEgui.exe, and not MGE.exe. I don't know if I maybe downloaded the wrong file, but that's the only one I see. Still no 16:9 :/
