TheOriginalEvilD
Not sure if it's been said and I don't think I saw you list it but...., Master Update it? What's that?
TheOriginalEvilD
Well i reinstalled everything fresh again, and this time i made it a point to install the patches before i installed the expansions. I'm not sure if that helped any or not but i figure it can't hurt. I read in another thread someone mentioned disabling AA...i gave that a shot and it did improve crashing a lot...to the point where i've played for about 45 minutes without a crash, and rebooting between crashes does seem to help also. I just don't understand how before i had very very few crashes during game play and usually only on exit if at all, and now i have them all the time. I have a feeling that you don't have iNumHWThreads Fix. From Tweakguides Some dual core and quad core CPU users have said that by inserting a new command iNumHWThreads=2 under the General section of Fallout.ini, and setting it to a value of 1, 2 or 4, this prevents freezing at certain points in the game. In practice this setting should not be required, as it appears to restrict the number of threads used by the game, however you can experiment with different values depending on how many cores of your CPU you want the game to use. I hope that help!
TheOriginalEvilD
Nope...forgot to enable that...and i do remember doing all those tweaks way back in the past. This previous time i did some tweaks i must have jacked something up and caused it to crash worse. I've just now went through carefully and did pretty much all the advanced tweaks that i thought would help...i noticed it was only running around 600mb of RAM so i did the tweaks to up the memory usage some and that helped a LOT with FPS and stuttering. If nothing else i'm now running totally maxed out on the options settings except for i turn off shadows and specularity fade, because there aren't enough shadows to make a difference and i don't like the effect that the specularity fade gives...everything gets all shiny and glossy with it turned up so i turn it all the way down. Everything else is pushed to the max now including AA and AF, and i'm usually running over 60fps. I can't say it's totally crash free though...but will it ever really be? lol
