rpger001
Anyone know which game settings affect stealing detection? I figure it might be something about the sound (how loud) the act of stealing is and the detection radius of owners. Perhaps making the sound of stealing much louder and/or improving the detection abilities of the NPCs will accomplish this. I am looking through the GECK and searching Internet but still do know how the game settings actually impact stealing. It seems as long as I am not in sight, I can steal everything. In FO3, I tried to steal something once with a low sneak sill as it was early game and got detected through a closed door. NPC immediately came into the house and started shooting. What I want to accomplish is: -- NPCs can detect stealing at greater levels; if I had to make detection more likely overall, this would not be bad. Ideally, only characters with high sneak skill and out of sight should be able to steal everything with impunity.-- I would like to be able to give the Van Graff's special detection abilities so that they can see through even a stealth field. I am all for robbing them blind in the game but I would rather not be able, with a low level character + stealth boy, rob their table right in front of them. Obviously, I am no expert in mod'ing so any advice or information anyone can point me to would be great. Thanks.
dieangel68
I'm not sure but... don't NPCs notice stealing only if they can see you steal anyway? i know that when sneaking, if it says i'm hidden i will lose some karma but tye will never turn against me. JohannesGunn
HellfireXS posted a mod which does the exact opposite, it can be found here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34829 If you ask nicely, maybe he'll make an alternate version to make it harder.
