Genzel
So I was reading the thread about the best antivirus software and then a program popped up. Win 7 Internet Security kept telling me I had viruses and showed a scan running. Closing the program did nothing and it constantly prompted me to buy their product to have it remove the files. It seemed suspicious and I googled the program name, it wasn't looking legit. The process was also named vz.exe which is a big red flag. Now, I closed the process and the program is no longer popping up, but reading about the thing online, I am worried about this. Norton isn't finding anything, and the process was only stopped, it wasn't deleted. Does anyone have experience with this and know what I can do? Thor.
VIral Anti Virus's, oh those are the worst kind, its adware most cases but sometimes those scanners are virus's in general. Try using Lavasofts Adaware free version or Spybot, those to seem to work the best when it comes to adware. Malwarebytes isn't the greatest anti mailware, it doesn't scan deep enough. Genzel
Thank you for the help, hopefully I will be able to clear this up. I downloaded the Lavasofts Adware program that you suggested, Thor, and when I attempt to run it, the vz.exe which I deleted and ended runs again. Every time I try open the program, win 7 internet security opens. Even opening Norton will make vz.exe appear. paganwannbe
I think you should just be able to close it down I could with xp Internet security it shouldn't hurt anything it's more of a nuisance when your checking then anything else alt+f4 works for a bit
Genzel
I think it is more than just an annoyance, I believe it could be very harmful if I cannot get rid of it. It seems to not be running as long as I don't run Norton, or any anti-virus, but thats another problem. I think I will have to try safe mode now. paganwannbe
I might not have made what I as saying clear in case I wasn't I was meaning that as long as your not doing anything else besides the virus check it's just an annoyance I'm sure it's very harmful to windows just don't click the block attack stuff close it down every time it pops up
Genzel
No matter what I do to delete the file, this file "GDIPFONTCACHEV1.DAT" always reappears, often with the other virus files that are 0kb and empty. I delete it and it just comes back. I am sure it is doing something even when I have deleted the files if it is able to just reappear.
paganwannbe
I think it a font cache at least thats what they are saying on the windows 7 forums http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/101631-what-gdipfontcachev1-dat.html
