Cheydinhal East Gate

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I was wondering if you could help me with an issue I have near the East Gate in Cheydinhal. Outside, there appears to be a missing "square" area of water that is surrounded by land. I can actually be on land and walk into the water and start swimming. I believe water is supposed to be rendered in that area due to the amount of dead fish I'm always finding there as seen in the first screenshot. Anyone know of a fix for this? I have attached a list of my installed mods and a few screenshots to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Thank you.

First, what do you have uGridsToLoad= set at? Anything over 5 is known to cause oddities similar to this, especially with water. Next you should disable mods that alter that area, such as the following two mods...

3A xulCheydinhalFalls.esp

4D Better Cities - Unique Landscape Cheydinhal Falls.esp

Try that first, if not it could be another mod conflict somewhere but it's most likely related to one of the three things mentioned above. Also is it just me or do those plants underwater look like ones from "The Painted World"?

Also you need to fix your Load Order. You need to use BOSS and update your Masterlist. It's out of date. You should read the ReadMe for all mods you install to ensure you properly install them. For example...

44 Deadly Reflex 5 - Timed block and 150% damage.esp

45 Deadly Reflex 5 - Timed Block and 250% damage.esp

46 Deadly Reflex 5 - Timed Block with no damage or durability changes.esp

You should only be using one of the above ESPs.

Thank you for your help, I will try the above solutions. You're the best, always very helpful. I am using BOSS and I have no idea how to update my masterlist. Can you point me in the right direction? Thank you.

You can use the above method to update your Masterlist. OR, since you use Wrye Bash, you can set it to automatically update your Masterlist every time you run BOSS, as long as you're using the latest versions of BOSS and Wrye Bash. It updates from the Google Repository site and is much more up-to-date than the ones on Nexus. The Google site gets updated on a near daily basis. If you're using Wrye Bash 290 and BOSS 1.6x, which you should be, check the following options as posted in this screenshot.

NOTE: This image was taken from the Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide for Newbies, an excellent little starter kit for Wrye Bash.

My uGridToLoad is currently set at 5. I tried disabling both mods one at a time and I still get the same result. Only thing that seemed to fix the problem was removing both mods completely. I did a google search and apparently others have the same exact issue, but I was not able to find any patches or solutions. Any other suggestions?

If the problem is no longer present when you remove the mod(s) then obviously it's one of them causing the problem, or conflicting with another mod. Highly unlikely both mods are flawed in the exact same way. So the best thing to do is find out 100% which one of those mods is causing the issue. You need to be sure it's a problem with a UL or BC and not another mod conflicting. I know that Clocks of Cyrodiil often conflict with Better Cities since the height maps are different. I notice you have Clocks BC Patch in your LO but you also have the original ESP. The way you have them loaded the BC Patch should override the original. But to be sure only use one, the patch. Let the people drink is also known to cause anomalies with certain other city mods. You may want to deactivate it and check again. As I mentioned, make sure 100% it's UL or BC before you post or you'll just be shot down for not reading the documentation about compatibility first.

Once you do that report it on that mods comment page and/or the Official BethSoft Mods Forum. Most of the more popular mods have dedicated Release (RELZ) or Work In Progrees (WIPz) threads for you to post in. Report your problems there with your LO and screenshots just like you did here. If it's a direct problem with Unique Landscapes or Better Cities I'm sure it will be fixed. Those are very popular mods and are highly maintained. If there is a solution, such as a patch, the folks there will point you in the right direction.

Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After days of trying to solve this issue, I finally was able to find a compatibility patch that was able to add the missing water. Thanks everyone here that gave me advice, I'm sure I'll be back here again when the next issue pops up.

Good deal. I was keeping an eye on your other thread to see how things were going. Glad you got it worked out.

What was the fix? Was it the C.Water tag on the outdated version of UOP you were using? If not please post so anyone else that runs across this error will have a solution.

I did everything you said, I did everything the other people on the Bethesda Forums said. I de-activated one mod and not the other, both mods at the same time, updated wyre bash, updated my BOSS master list, updated Unofficial Oblivion Patch and still nothing.

I believe it was a combination of things that fixed it. Updated the Unofficial Oblivion Patch and rebuilding the bashed patch in Wyre Bash. After, I downloaded this Unique Landscapes Total Compilation OMOD and installed it, the water was where it was supposed to be.

This was bothering me all week!!!! I just stayed in that area the whole time trying everything I could to fix it, I didn't even play the game. Nice that I was finally able to find a solution. Thank you everyone for your help.
