theworstusernameever
I am running windows 7. I installed both the self installer and the python software. I can't figure out how to run the program. There is no shortcut on my desktop. When I go into the program files for Wyre Bash and double click the launcher, nothing happens. Reaverdude
I am running windows 7. I installed both the self installer and the python software. I can't figure out how to run the program. There is no shortcut on my desktop. When I go into the program files for Wyre Bash and double click the launcher, nothing happens. I had similar issues as well when running Windows 7, I would click the icon and nothing would happen. I found this post in the comments section for Wyre Bash extremely helpful: "Just commenting to say that I did get this running on Win7. Just installed all of "Wrye Python 03a"Then installed the "Wrye Bash 275 - Self Installer"Updated using the "Wrye Bash 289 - Archive Version - Full"Then updated with "Wrye Bash 290 - Archive Version - Update Only" If any of you are having problems, try all that, then be sure to either use the created Desktop Shortcut, or run the "Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw" in the Oblivion/Mopy directory." Credit to Subgum for the posting. I did all those steps and now everything works fine. Hope that helps. Smooth613
The only thing you should avoid in what Reaver suggested is v289. 288 and 289 should be avoided at all cost. Both are plagued with bugs, some rather serious ones. Instead you should use the following procedure. It's the same except one step. Install Wrye Python 03aInstall Wrye Bash 275 Self InstallerInstall Wrye Bash 287Install Wrye Bash 290 Update. That's the best procedure to get Wrye Bash working. This should also provide you with a shortcut on your desktop that works. If the shortcut does not work for whatever reason then go to your Mopy folder and create one for Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw. That will get Wrye Bash up and running every time. I've reinstalled multiple times, as I'm sure others have too, and this procedure never fails me. Just this past week I reinstalled, twice, and the above worked without a hitch both times. Read the ReadMe included in the archive you downloaded. There is an HTML ReadMe in the Mopy folder that covers proper installation procedure. The Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide for Newbies is an excellent starter kit to get you on your feet and navigate the basic, and some slightly advanced, features of Wrye Bash. Additional Note: Expect Wrye Bash 291 in the near future which should be a self-installer version so you will be able to eliminate some of the above steps for a simpler install. Is your oblivion game installed under c:\Program Files or c:\Program Files (x86)? If it is, you need to reinstall it somewhere else, such as c:\games\oblivion. I suspect that your Win7 security is preventing Wrye Bash from being allowed to create the directory(s)/data file(s) that it uses.

I've never tried it so I don't know for sure, but oblivion puts stuff in the registry about where it is - so I doubt a simple copy/paste would work. Bben46 has written an article about how to remove and reinstall Oblivion successfully. I recommend that you check it out: Bben's Reinstall Procedure
