DorostheConqueror
Do any of you guys know how to get mp3s to play properly in custom radio mods? My problem is that the radio will only play the first 4 or 5 seconds of a song before switching to the next one. I've got my radio to work fine using wavs, but wavs are far too big to be practical. Quetzlsacatanango
The higher quality mp3s you use, the harder it is to play them back, due to the decompression. Wavs are uncompressed, which would explain why you don't have issues. Try encoding them at a lower bitrate and see if the problem gets better. Hey, I tried what you suggested, but it still doesn't work. I tried about seven or eight different encoding settings, from 8000Hz at 8kbps on up, and the songs still only play for five seconds before skipping. I checked the sound files the game uses for Radio New Vegas, and they all seem to be mp3s at 44100Hz, 256kbps, stereo. There's got to be a way to mimic this, right? Or is there some hardcoded variable that prevents player-created radio stations from operating at the same level of efficiency as Radio New Vegas? resurgam
This problem still needs to be resolved. uncompressed files are huge. I can't have a gigabyte large mod for just 36 songs.
kungfubellydancer
I have this same problem with my mod, except my Belly Dance mod is using .wav files. Funny thing is, this happened AFTER I compressed the .wav files which were previously uncompressed and worked fine, but were upwards of 50MB a piece, and so I lowered them to <15MB each, so that people weren't downloading huge files. I still haven't resolved this issue, so people are using a mod that only plays about 4-5 seconds of a song then it skips to the next one. I'm thinking about gathering up the old, uncompressed ones, seeing as to how they play perfectly, and then upload them in a seperate file. That file is going to be around 200MB, which is insane. Has anyone figured out what the problem is? It certainly isn't compression, at least, not uniformly for all file types.
