Blender modelling Issues

I am new to modding, I made a few basic ones and now I want to start editing .Nif files for an upcoming project, problem is that after installing blender, python, pyffi, and finally the Blender .Nif scripts (making sure to install all as admin on windows 7) I tried to import a Nif file and settings pop up, not knowing what to do I left them as default and when I tried to import a simple ashtry I ended up with a square with none of the basic shapes of the model and it tells me I have errors and need to check the python console, I've never scripted before so none of it made sense to me. I need help I'm Very confused and new.

Which version of each of those four programs are you running?

Python 2.6.2 Blender 2.49b PyFFI 2.14 and Scripts 2.5.4 I really hope you can help.

Python 2.6.6 - http://www.python.org/

PyFFI 2.1.5 - http://pyffi.sourceforge.net/

Blender nif plugin 2.5.5

 

Try out these versions. I had problems installing on my desktop till I got those specific versions.

haha, one more re-install and i pray it works and any ideas on where to find the blender 2.5.5 plugins?

never mind i found it, and i install in the python, pyffi, blender, scripts order right?

The Pyffi install asks which parts to install if blender isn't preinstalled, it just won't be autoselected.

Don't install blender64, even if your OS is 64bit. Nif scripts don't work in 64bit blender.
