Mod Recomendation?

I'm new to the fallout modding community but to keep this quick, what mods should i instal (and should the be in a certain order in FOMM?) to overall make New Vegas more fun.

I've downloaded some retextures, a couple quests but none seem to work properly, a few tweaks to the game mechanics (killing children, more vendors, ect), some new locations and additions to current locations like the Strip, and some of adult content add on like the type3 bodies and AP mods.

But now i have an abundance of new features that i havent even seen yet and the only thing ive really noticed is that there are large floating exclamation points all over, every female character in the game is bald, and theres hookers everywhere.

recommendations please?

I've googled the top mods for new vegas but that wasnt too helpful.

TL;DR: what mods make vanilla NV more playable?

thanks

To remove the exclamation points, you need ArchiveInvalidatedValidated! Long name, I know, but it works like a charm. Also, what do you consider to be fun? Do you want a tranquilizer gun, so you can drop a deathclaw, walk up to it, and kill it with a chainsaw as it sleeps? Do you want to fire artillery shells at ridiculous rates, without having to worry about ammo use? Or do you want to make the game harder, as in reducing the exp awarded for EVERYTHING?

well i dont want it to turn into a game full of god items i still want to be able to play through the quests that shipped with the game but id like to do it with some player created content to give the game a more unique feel

for example i downloaded a mod that adds Behemoths to the wasteland because it would make the game more fun without breaking it

also ive been installing my mods with FOMM by saving the compressed folder and loading it into FOMM the clicking "activate" is it supposed to be that simple?

EDIT: Nevermind i found the file it was somewhere else

Try putting the file in your install folder, that fixed it for me. Also, I find it's best to extract the mods first, as there is less chance of corruption if it reads uncompressed files. To point you in the right direction for your mods, try going to weapons, and sorting by endorsements in descending order. This will display the weapons with the most endorsements first, kind of like the All Stars of that category, if you will. As long as you stay out of cheats and god items, you SHOULD be okay, though I'd read the description and comments carefully. I would also recommend you check out a few of the player homes that are available, and see if you like any of them. Edited by JohannesGunn

Just a guess, but did you install any hair packs or body replacers? It's probably a custom texture issue... Sorry I can't be more specific.

i actually just figured out

youre pretty much right something i downloaded required a "beauty pack" to be downloaded as well

thanks for you help

i appreciate it

There are a ton (Literally) of great mods, and thus too many to list, not to mention if you learn how to there are mods you can port from fallout 3 for your personal enjoyment

A good way to find good mods is by browsing categories on the nexus

then after picking the one you want you go to the menu that organizes the mods and pick

Number of downloads (Tends to work best since most people don't remember to endorse everything they like)

and then

Descending order (So it starts with the most downloaded weapon/armor/compainion etc mod)

And of course check the threads here in the forums after you've searched a lot,

And don't feel shy to request a mod you'd like to see, or ask if its been made before, or just post up an idea on the forum and hope a modder picks it up

Hope that helps a bit
