I have a fairly new dell windows 7 machine i got in june 2010. Soon after, I started modding oblivion. Everything has been running well with no problems and I run about 100 mods or so currently. last night I click on my OBMM icon to check on mods i was currently running, and something odd happened that i've never encountered before. I get a pop up window saying " OBMM must be installed to Oblivions base directory, if you have moved or renamed oblivion_default.ini please replace it. " I have been running mods and OBMM for six months and OBMM was installed correctly and I have had no problems as mentioned earlier in the help request. I erased the .ini file via going to my documents route and let oblivion create a new .ini file for me upon start up. When i start the game it ( clicking on the oblivion icon ) it just CTD on me. So to recap, if I click on Obmm I get that pop-up, or if I click to start Oblivion i get a CTD. Just on the previous day, and all the days that go back to june 2010 when I started to mod it worked without problems. Perhaps I did something to mess something up, or maybe something just malfunctioned, I'm not sure... I would appreciate any help or tips from the experts here on the forums, and I thank anyone who reads this ahead of time for willingness to help this puzzled gamer.

The oblivion_default.ini is located where the Oblivion.exe is, when you delete your oblivion.ini in the My Documents route I assumed it would copy a Oblivion_Default.ini from the install directory, but it seems you acidentally deleted it or it got moved somewhere. You need to restore your oblivion_default.ini, I don't know if it would be legal to upload that or not, but re-installing the base game will restore the file, or you can install the game in a temporary place and drag the file to your real Oblivion directory.

Hopefully all of this makes sense, good luck trying to fix it.
