Rossum
In stores like the Silver Rush, there are items and stuff laying around as if on display. However, you can't buy them because the game considers it stealing. Would there be some way to make it where you can pick up stuff from the shop and then pay for it without people thinking you are stealing? For example: You walk into the store and look at the various display items. There is the main salesperson and maybe a few others as well. You can pick up an item which causes the salesperson to approach you and add it to their inventory without berating you or considering it to be stealing. Then you can just talk to them to trade and buy the item. This would be great for a place like the Silver Rush that has a recharger pistol and loads of other weapons on display but apparently a pretty limited selection you can buy (I'd totally pay for that recharger pistol but she doesn't sell on in her inventory so I have to steal it!). Maybe another script where the NPC would drop various items onto display shelves or just place them into containers (like put consumables in a fridge, ammo in an ammo box etc) and then you can search the containers to buy stuff. The salesperson might not even carry anything except caps and would rely on you picking out stuff from the containers to make a selection. Selling stuff to them results in them adding the items to the various containers (maybe also a 'bargain bin' that has stuff that is low value or in poor condition). I'm thinking something like how shops work in Nethack where the items are on display and you can pick them up and the shopkeeper wants you to buy them. Interfer0
You could make the items activators, and they would give you an option to buy that item when you click them. Then when you buy it it puts a real one in your inventory, disables the activator item, and takes the caps.
UttaNutta
YES! I SO WANT THIS! It does piss me off that the Silver Rush is full of high quality energy weapons, that I would gladly pay for, yet I can't buy them.
