Hi,

I've been having some trouble getting started with NifSkope. I'm trying to make some geometry tweaks to the Cali mesh, without changing any topology (just moving verts) and import my modified mesh as a replacement.

So far I've found a bunch of posts on the matter but they always seem to lead me to a button that isn't there or something, and don't work.

What I've done so far:

* Exported Cali mesh as OBJ

* Did some modeling in Maya (I prefer it because I know it really well)

* Exported the changed OBJ

* Imported the new OBJ into NifSkope

... and there, I'm stuck! I can Copy Branch on the new NiTriShapeData, but I can't seem to get it to replace the NiTriStripsData object representing the unmodified Cali. Tutorials pointed me to "Paste Over" but that does not show up for me... When I paste it goes in as a new root node.

Also, cannot get NifSkope to turn it into triangle strips. It crashes immediately when I run Stripify All TriShapes... Might have to try a different version.

I'm using NiffSkope 1.0.22, revision 8329d39 according to the About window.

So, I figure I'm clicking on the wrong thing, or selecting the wrong thing when I try to do certain steps, but I've reached an impass. Any modders willing to help me figure it out?

Hmmm... I at least got a bit further. The "Paste Over" menu item was being hidden because my souce was a TriShape and my target was a TriStrip.

I got a TriStrip from Maya using the NifExport plugin, but when I try to 'paste over' the other TriStrip data, NifSkope just crashes.

Are all these NifSkope crashes because I'm using Win7 x64 or something?
