Killer Rabbit
I've searched through a few different tutorials on dialogue editing, but I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for, so I was hoping someone here could either help me out or point me in the right direction for the advice I need. I'm trying to make a rather large-scale Zelda mod (which will be built in smaller parts before becoming one large mod), and so the first part I'm working on is editing the dialogue to make it make sense for the character/situation. What I need to know is... 1) How do I take pre-existing recorded dialogue and cut it? 2) How do I then take edited dialogue, import it and attach it to text dialogue I have created? 3) How do I make the mouth/face aniamtions follow the newly arranged dialogue? 4) How do I make people refer to the character as a certain race when they are not technically of that race? (Link will be of the "Hylian" custom race, but I want people to refer to him as an elf.) those are the main issues. Secondary issues (which I can more easily get answered by reading tutorials, but want tot ask about anyways in case someone has any extra advice): 5) How do I record and insert my own dialogue? What's the best file format? Is there a preferred recording program? Any other applications I should be aware of? Techniques? Tricks? 6) How do I get my actors to move their mouths while speaking custom dialogue? It'd even be fine to simply substitute another quote's mouth animations for my own dialogue, but I'm afraid I don't know how to do even that. ok, I think that's more than enough for now. Any help appreciated :) I'm a realtvely new modder (I've mostly done retex and custom race work, not much more yet) so please bear with my newbie-ness :P Thanks again! SickleYield
You should look at the tutorial on the Oblivion CS wiki (any google of that exact phrase will bring it up for you). It's a Media Player video tutorial that takes you through setting up new dialogue step by step. The settings you have to use are very exact and you can only use mp3's for the game and .wavs for the CS (so that you can hear the dialogue in the Construction Set). As for editing, for that you need a good sound recording program and (if you want to do your own dialogue) a decent microphone. I used Audacity, but I can't seem to get working mp3's. Some people choose a more expensive program like the one in the tutorial (Audacity is opensource) and use the trial version. Whatever works for you. You'll also need to unpack the sound .bsa that came with the game, for which you need a program like Bsa Commander or etc.
