vision192
Hi, Can anyone tell me how this can be done, or link me to a tutorial explaining how to do it? Or is this even possible? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
DarkeWolf
hiyas Vision- welcome to the nexus forums :) Ok, the ONLY way that this can be done, in the way that I think that you're talking about doing it, is IF the character's face morph was made in the dragon age toolset. In which case you would open up the .mrh file that you created there in the toolset, and choose to extract the .mop file for it. (there's a checkbox there in the extraction options for whether to extract it as a mor or a mop. .Mor is for already made characters. .Mop is for preset faces. You CANNOT create a mop from a mor :(Once you have the mop file located in your documents/bioware/dragon age/packages/core/override folder, you need to look thru that folder and locate a file called chargenmorphcfg.xmlOnce you've found that file, you open it using notepad, and then edit in the new information for the morph, in order for it to appear in the chargen creator. Keep in mind that you have to name the mop file appropriately, or the game won't recognize it correctly. It has to start out with the appropriate initials.EF EM HF HM DF DM or QMEF Elf FemaleEM Elf MaleHF Human FemaleHM Human MaleDF Dwarf FemaleDM Dwarf MaleQM Qunari Male.so for example an elf male preset, it has to be named em_customface.mop and thats the name that you would add into the xml file under elf faces. ("customface" is just a random name that came off the tip of my head). Now, if you want to just add that character's face, to another character, you can do so using the face replacer- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=428 which will scan a savegame for the name of the face mor used, and then replace that name into a savegame in another character, so that they use the same morph file.the replacer can also extract a .mor file from a savegame. However, as I said before a .mor canNOT be turned into a .mop file so that wouldnt help you out with presets. :( I hope that this helps. And again, welcome to the nexus, and happy gaming :) Edited November 28, 2010 by DarkeWolf
DarkeWolf
Also- if you were wanting to say, change the hair style of the character, before adding the new face to the new character, and you are using the face replacer. what you would do, is use the toolset, or the character creator and make a face that has the hairstyle that you want the new character to have.then extract BOTH face morphs (old character, and new character with the hair that you want) using the face replacer. Open them BOTH in the toolset, and then copy the value for the hair from the new morph by finding it's listing in the file, and right clicking on where it reads "thisparticularhair" (again, that is just a random name I created outta thin air) and choosing copy from the right click menu.Switch to the Old character file, and locate where the hair model used is listed. Right click on the filename for the hair used, and choose Paste Value and then save the file.If you choose just Paste you'll botch the file up, as it will add that ENTIRE LINE to the old file, NOT just the hair's model name. So make sure to choose paste value. Hope that this helps too
vision192
Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately after following your tutorial, when I now try to load the in game character creator it crashes. I even looked up a similar tutorial that went even more in depth, and still it crashes. :( I gave my file the .mop extension (full file name: hm_untitledface.mop), and I did choose "True" under "Export mop" in the toolset. Is there anything else I could be doing wrong?
DarkeWolf
No problem, I'm just wishing that you didnt come back with another issue, that sucks :(hrmmmmmK, does the face have any addins that might not be recognized by the CC? Such as hair, eye colors, skin hues, tattoos, anything like that? If so, those will need to be added to the chargenmorphcfg file too.make sure that you have your mop file listed under human male... like this- <heads> <human_male> <resource name="HM_CPS_P01.mop" /> Also, I had forgotten about this last part, name it a part # such as the "P01" listed in my above example. Tho you'll have to look in your chargenmorphcfg.xml file to see which ones are already used. So if you've got 6 human male heads listed, you'd name it P07. It MIGHT also be too long a name. Try it as something like HM_VIS_P0x.mop and see if that cures it. Sorry about forgetting about that last part. I was running you thru it on memory, and it looks like I'm in need of an upgrade in that department! :laugh:But hopefully that cures it!
vision192
I tried creating a preset out of the default toolset headmorph, something completely untouched by myself. I named it "HM_VIS_P10.mop", and it still crashed my game. I can't figure out why. Is there anything else I could be doing wrong? Perhaps this whole thing just isn't for me... :(
DarkeWolf
Sorry for not getting back to you a lot sooner. I decided to sleep on it, and see if I could come up with some answers. Had you tried using the CC BEFORE this was added? This IS a tried and true .mop, yah? Not just a .mor that you renamed the .mop file? Because that won't work. Have you updated your chargenmorph xml to include any mods that might be included with the faces? Have you installed any other mods before you'd made a new character trying it with the new faces? You've got the .mop files there in your dragon age/packages/core/override folder? When you exported the premade from the toolset, you had export as .mop set to true, and NAMED the file IN the toolset with the .mop extension? Have you tried the chargen withOUT the listing for the custom presets?
RustyBlade
A posted zip file containing the mop in question along with a copy of chargenmorph.xml might shed some insight into what is happening here.
vision192
I uninstalled a few mods I have today, and after doing that my custom face was finally showing up in the presets. After some trial and error I figured out that it was "More Hairstyles" and "Vibrant Colors" that were causing my problems, because with them installed the preset either doesn't show up, or the game crashes upon selecting the new face. Is there any way I can keep these mods and have my custom preset? I usually use both of them with each character I create, it would really suck to have to give them up :( P.S. My toolset character creator skills need improvement, my new character looks horrid ingame. xD
RustyBlade
Without your morph installed, did the hairstyles and colors show up in the character creation screen?
