FrozenAtrox
Hi, I'm new to Nexus. The reason why I joined it was because I got intrested in Fallout 3 machinima. Long story short: I already found some console command codes so I can enable free-cam or third person cam w/o hud, I also found a few handy mods such as the poses mod. My question; are there any command codes or mods you would recommend for making machinima? Post anything machinima related and interesting for that matter, I really wanna know what's out there. I would really appreciate it if you could help me. Thanks in advance! ~ FrozenAtrox

angvar
Basic programs needed are something to record your footage with like Fraps and something to edit with. I use Sony Vegas Pro since Windows Movie Maker makes my films all too tall and skinny once I upload to YouTube. As far as mods go there are a few that I would not be able to function without. -The Groovatron is a must.-A good body replacer so you can use all of the awesome clothing mods. Any of the Type 3/5 replacers work very well for this. -Anthony Lings Finer things is a great source for a huge selection of clothing along with Kikai's Equipment and Sunglasses Collection.-Project Beauty for hair and making most Npcs more attractive.-Fellout removing the nasty green tint to everything.-Feng Shui is awesome for modifying in game areas to make sets. -Enclave Commander is very useful for summoning extras that you can put into costumes. There are many more great mods for specific things, Guns, Motorcycles etc. These you just need to browse the data base and see what you think you want to use. As far as console commands there are good lists of them at The Vault Wiki. A couple of my favorites are :- SA - Select a character while in console and type SA then enter. This will give you the name of any animation they are playing atm. Write down the animation then use ...- Playidle - Select a character while in console type Playidle and then an idle. I.E. Playidle Loosesittablechairsobbing. This makes an npc sit at table crying.- TCAI - Just type in TCAI and it turns off all combat scripting so you can film with your enemies and mix factions.- TAI - Select a character then type TAI and this will turn off thier scripting and free them in place. Handy to prevent in game idle from messing up your shots.- Setrestrained - Select a character and type Setrestrained 1 or 0. This is useful since the Groovatron won't restrain team mates. Restraining will stop your Enclave Commander guys from walking around while they are in waiting mode.- Disable - Select a npc or object in a scene and type disable and then enter to remove it. You can also use Zap but this only removes things until you restart the game. These commands are handy for removing ash piles, corpses, lighting effects and various stuff you don't want to film. Make sure to save a lot incase you disable something you didn't mean to. A personal trick I do is having hundreds of save games. For the character in my stories I have her complete history of play at various stages so I can quicky access areas and scenes. For every set I build I usually make two or three save games at different stages of shooting so I can quickly go back and re-shoot stuff. I use the quicksave to do things like film a scene with out actors then load the same scene with actors to make it look like people are appearing from now where. There is so much more but these are the basics that come to mind ... Hope this helps. Edited December 15, 2010 by angvar
