MCM Voice change

PLEASE, PLEASE,

Could someone please make an MCM "Change-your-Follower's-voice" mod?

We can change bodies, hair, skin, meshes, textures, bra size, toenails, etc., ...everything but voices.

90% of the gorgeous followers that I, and you, download have the (most favorite, and rightly so!) "young-eager" voice....But...

I have had to DL extra houses--not my main house-- to place them in, because I am unable to tolerate the cacophony of Y-E voices in the same house.

"Familiar Faces-guy" knows how to do this--he's done it... "Change-anyone's-body guy" knows how to change bodies {a terrific and under-appreciated mod, BTW}. So surely he could do this, too. (I have asked)

Please, cannot one or more of you brilliant modders do this? I can barely type, and certainly cannot mod. I have endorsed every mod that ever worked for me.

If you could do this, I would sing your praises forever !!!

Thank You,

Rick 0307

I've not actually tried it, but I see there is a SKSE function for Get / SetVoiceType.

The function has no example or info, but if it works then can't see why it couldn't be done.

Maybe able to make a small plugin, but changing voice type only works on the actor base.

So if the actor base your changing voice on is used for other actors then all actors using that base actor will use the changed voice.

I'll look into it, but at this point no promisses.

Well I looked into seting voices in MCM for an actor, works with some characters fine, others may lose their voice when you change the voice type.

For example:

I tried setting Sven from Riverwood voice and he seemed to go silent after changing his voice.

Even changing his voice back to his original didn't fix his silence.

But in either case Sven's dilogue still worked as intended.

I tried changing Lod from Riverwood voice and his voice changed and worked fine.

So I gather mileage may vary as to who will work and who won't.

Or depending on the voice type your changing to.

If you want to play around with a test plugin then ask away and I'll post the crude knock up I created.

Basically you target an actor and press a key (V key, you can configure key in MCM).

If the actor you target is a valid actor then you will see a brief message "Actor Name Selected"

If target is not valid the you see a message "No actor selected"

Once you have selected the actor open MCM and their name will be listed and you have 1 menu option to select the voice to change to.

At this point it will only work with actors that use a voice type that are listed in the native VoicesFollowerAll form list.

Voices that list contains:

Male Even Toned Accented
Female Sultry
Male Drunk
Female DarkElf
Male DarkElf
Male Nord
Female Commander
Male Brute
Male Argonian
Male Khajiit
Female Orc
Male Orc
Female Condescending
Male Even Toned
Female Even Toned
Male Young Eager
Female Young Eager

Only one actor at a time can be selected.

As I say it's just a test proof of concept and not a mod release.

Here you go,

Keep in mind it's only a proof of concept and is nothing fancy and my be buggy.

With that said make sure you back up your save game before using it.

To install:

Extract the VoiceType.esp and VoiceType.bsa from the attached zip to your

Skyrim\Data\ directory.

Enable VoiceType.esp with skyrim launcher or your mod manager.

You find a very simple mcm menu in MCM -> Voice Types.

Configure the Target key to your prefference (Default V key).

MCM -> Voice Types -> General Settings -> Target Actor Key

To Use:

Target an Actor in your Crosshair and hit the target key.

Once you see the message at the top of your screen "Actor Name Selected"

(Actor Name = Name of the actor you targeted)

Open MCM -> Voice type -> Actor Name

Select a voice for the actor to use and close MCM.

Only actors with the following voice typess will work for tageting:

Male Even Toned Accented
Female Sultry
Male Drunk
Female DarkElf
Male DarkElf
Male Nord
Female Commander
Male Brute
Male Argonian
Male Khajiit
Female Orc
Male Orc
Female Condescending
Male Even Toned
Female Even Toned
Male Young Eager
Female Young Eager

(This can be altered in CK to work with other voices at a later time)

Worked like a charm!! Congratulations!! and Thank you.

Ameera the Fox is pretty funny as a drunk male. Then changed her to female even-tone, all just as you described.

Would you want me to try this on stock NPCs? My intent is to use it only on DL'd one-of followers with a voice (for me, young-eager) from the list

Your welcome and glad it works for you :)

Use it on anyone you like to test it on.

At this point I have no idea if changing voices on actors may break an actors dialogue.

The main reason I responded to your request was I saw the SetVoiceType() function a while back and thought I'll get around to trying it out one day.

So your request gave me the oppertunity to do so.

I thought the set SetVoiceType() may be handy in other cases for example:

Marriage for actors that don't have the right voice type.

For forcing actors as followers that don't use one of the follower voice types.

The proof of concept won't do that type of thing, but it wouldn't be hard to add other voice types to it if needed.

There is one thing here, though. After exiting the game and reopening, the actor's voice returns to their original. Once given, the new voice does persist through load screens within the game.. . Have to try it through switching char's inside the big game. I'll also try it on Farkas, for example, to see if a different voice breaks the Proving Honor quest.

Not a big deal to reload the new voice, but, if used to accomplish marriage or other purposes as you suggest, that reversion could be a problem.

On the other hand, if used on a custom-voice char, the loss of original custom voice would not be permanent--I'm guessing (?) (Tired of Sophia? Give her pipes a rest.) Would it even work on Sophia in the first place?

Interesting possibilities in Skyrim, since so much revolves around the voice type.

Going back into the game for a while.
