OOC - sorry, just wanted to be 500th post

There is the sound of men coming from outside - armored men. In just a second, they are in the room. They are five heavily armored men with swords and spears, all with tabards with the coat of arms of the king of Toof. "What happened here?" The one apparently in charge begins. The others draw their weapons as they see the carnage in the hut. "Where's lord Reevelord? His Majesty requests an answer to some rumors that are floating around?"

Helstar looks at his companions, then steps forward.

"Lets see how this can be explained... It all started when me and Melisande, one of the bodies on the ground, went to a mr. Waring Beadel for a job. I'm not sure the exact sequence of events... but we were soon meeting with Mr. Reevelord. We were attacked by his guards, and then he turned into a lizad-man. It might have been an illusion, but most times illusions dont kill people. It may be hard to... grasp.., but it is true."

Helstar steps back to his place, hoping his explanation was to be believed.

Linden slices off a small piece of cloth from Jouko's clothes and with it takes the crystal from the skeletal remains, being careful not to touch it directly.

"I'm going to take this crystal back to the people who trained me. They have priests who could take care of the evil imbued with it. I also think...well, hope that without this crystal this thing won't be able to rise again."

After completeing that task, she goes over to Jouko's remains and says a prayer commending him to the dead. "When we find Bengt Reevelord , Warin Beadle or at the least Erech, we should tell them about Jouko here. He deserves a decent burial."

The blank look on the soldier's face shows that he not only doesn't believe you, but doesn't even believe that you would come up with such an outlandish story. In fact, from the best you can read from his manner, he is confused as to what to make of you and your story.

The gem comes out of the chest of the thing easily, and, as it does, the thing crumbles to dust which scatters around from a mysterious gust of wind. As the last dust blows away, a document is uncovered in the bottom of the cairn.

Tiemmo tries a smile. "It was very hot and there was a lot of smoke in here. I'm not sure what we saw or didn't see. What is true is that the guards attacked us and killed one of our number and when the smoke cleared Mister Reevelord was not here. We defended ourselves as best we could but we were not responsible for all the deaths as you will see if you examine their wounds."

Reaching down, Erunánion makes to pick the document up, but hesistates. "We can't be sure that whatever was here was gone, or that it didn't leave any surprises for us." Looking on the floor for a stone or pebble, he hopes to drop one onto the document to trigger any booby-traps that may be there.

There are plenty of rocks and debris around from the destroyed coffin. Eruanion is able to find one with ease and drop it. There is no resulting sounds except the echo of the stone on stone contact. There is, however, a small hole in the parchment where the stone hit it.

"Oops." Erunánion looks guiltily at the hoel he has accidentally made. "At least this tells us one thing; the document is very old, so we should try not to move it overmuch. Can anyone make out what is on it?"

"Well, it looks like our question on how to get to the king or at least a hihg ranking official might be answered." Portia says under her breath to Tiemmo. "Excuse me good sir." She says to the one who seems to be in charge. "I was coming to see Lord Reevelord and came in as the battle finished. As such, I am a witness to the end of the scuffle. Perhaps you would like to take me and these people to a person of authority, so that the truth of the matter may be quickly and efficiently be ascertained."

She looks at the others and at the guards. "Shall we go, people? The whereabouts of Lord Reevelord are not going to solve themselves."
