The interior of the building is quite stark, actually. The approximately fifty foot square area seems to be a single-room, with a stone stairway opposite that leads up. There are crates, boxes, and a great amount of rolled tapestries and other cloths around the area, as what seem like a platoon of men moving thigs around without saying a word. As Portia watches, it becomes evident that there is a stairway down over by the stairway up, as men disappear into a currently unseeable hole.

After a moment, a man close to the doorway where the party came in comes over toward the group. He is apparently in his mid forties, balding and slightly overweight. His round face is red and covered with the sweat of apparent exertion. He wipes his hands on his heavy brown robes and comes up to you.

"Excuse me. Are you seeking assistance? Allow me to be of service to you. I am Brother Poul, priest of Corithalion. How may I guide you to his wisdom?"

"Library?!?" The man looks at Helstar incredulously. He then composes himself and continues. "What little we have is not yet available, perhaps if you cme back in a few weeks, we would be more than happy to allow you to peruse all of the volumes you wish. We are always happy to allow one who has taken the time to learn to read the opportunity to learn more straight from the writings of the exalted one. Now, is there anything else I can help you with?"

Tiemmo wanders over to the stairs and wonders where they lead. Most of the stuff is being moved down, he raises his eyes at the others in the party and puts his feet on the lower steps going up and waits to see if there is a reaction.

Linden looks at the two guards a moment, nods respectfully with hands outspread, and backs away a step. She continues in a humbler voice, "My apologies gentlemen, I meant no disrespect - to you or to any of the followers of Corithalion. I've been out in the back country for quite a while and just recently arrived at the city. I did not know of any recent strife between our Orders. I assumed that I could pay my respects here at the Temple, but I'm grateful that you have corrected my error. If it is acceptable with you, I"d like to rejoin my companions?"

Thinking to herself, "We need to find out what's going on here before we do anything further. We may have gotten ourselves into something larger than we realize....."

Portia looks at the rest of the group and gives them a look like "Oh well, might as well try the direct approach."

Portia looks at the man, and curtsies briefly. "Excuse me, sir." She says softly. "Actually we are here for a friend. When the tithes were last collected, he had no cash, and one of the items donated was dear to him. We are here to exchange that item, if we might, for one that is perhaps more valuable to your church, and less dear to him. Might that be possible? Also, we are looking for certain information, and are wondering if there is someone who might be able to speak to us on the topic of prophecy and visions."

Brother Poul smiles at Portia, and quietly shakes his head. "I'm sorry, my dear." He says. "If it was an item that was taken, we sell all of those and distribute the money to those who are not so fortunate. I cannot trade with you something I do not have." He shrugs, and gives a calm smile. "As to your second question, that is much more something that we may be able to help you with. Unfortunately, our expert on the subject, Sister Agnes, is away and won't return until tomorrow. I am sure she will talk to you if you would come back."

Tiemmo gets no reaction as he begins to go down the steps. There is a room that is much larger than the room above there, and several men and women are setting up things around an already completed shrine and altar area.

Linden walks quickly over to Portia. "It might be wiser if we come back tomorrow, don't you think, Portia?" she says quietly and emphatically. "These people seems terribly busy right at the moment; we wouldn't want to disturb them further."

"I agree" Portia says to Linden. "Though I think we may have a little difficulty convincing our compatriots of that." She cranes her neck toward the figure that is slowly disappearing down the stairs. Then she has a sudden insight and turns back to brother Poul.

"Thank you for your time. Actually, the item is very precious to our friend. Perhaps there is a specific merchant that the item was sold to? Perhaps we can negotiate with him?"
