Shadow of the Fallen
OOC: I'll be in and out over the next couple of days or so... We have another hurricane coming through Florida, and while I doubt its going to be very big by the time it gets here, there will still be work to be done around the house. Other then that, the only noteworthy thing I have to say is that the eye is projected to go right over us, and then turn sharply and head north--just my luck I suppose. IC:Altarus trudges along behind the others, unsure really of where they are going.. Or to what end the others seek to find this Parr fellow. As a silent monolith, he follows, his great bulk seeming to fill out the hallway as he slowly moves along. Each individual movement careful and ponderous, but as a whole it is some how swift. He has no trouble keeping up, even though it almost appears that he is moving slower. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that every step he took was equivalent to more then two from some of his new companions... Regardless, he said nothing as they walked, he had never been much for words, and he wasn't about to start with them now.
Kethruch
June 05, 1048 1154 Good luck again fallen.... The heavy doors swing open, and the cool, dry air from the massive building flows out over you. It is a moment before your eyes adjust from the outside light to the dimness from inside. Once they do, the massiveness of the structure comes to your vision. You can see from one end of the buidling to the other, some two hundred feet away. The vaulted ceiling towers thirty feet over your head, and light comes in throught dimly colored leaded glass windows. There are places where the windows are out, the light pouring through creating streaks of light that turn everything to white to your eyes, and around these there are several people working. There are two long columns of square pillars around which there are many people working feverishly. Closest to you and on the right, they are putting up a carved alabaster-looking relief on one of the faces of the pillar. There are people everywhere, and they often disappear into the large recesses on the right and left up closer to the altar.
Melisande
Portia walks in and begins to look around. Never has she seen such a structure! She heads over to the column where the relief is going up and watches for a moment before clearing her throat. "Ahem," she says demurely. "That is brilliant work!" She says excitedly, then, in a more restrained voice. "Excuse me, but could anyone point me to a gentleman named Paar?"
Malchik
Tiemmo nods to Portia to indicate he is going further into the building, down towards the altar. He walks along the side of the northern aisle checking for doors, stairs and anything unusual. He is also keeping an eye open for a rotund gentleman. Emry
Linden stops short as she sees the splendor of the building before her. As her eyes adjusts to the dimmer environment, she looks around and wanders over towards the workers putting up the bas relief on the pillar. Shadow of the Fallen
OOC: Much appreciated. When you say the windows are out, are they broken? In what manner would they have been broken, if that is the case, or what exactly seems to be the reason they are not there? IC:The sight stopped Altarus in his tracks, the grandoise setting before him making his eyes widen a bit. If his teeth weren't clenched tight, his mouth would have likely hung agape, though the thought of it seemed absurd in comparison to his rock solid temperment. Reflexively, his hand came up to rest on the butt end of his axe, while his eyes survey the room. His attention was drawn first to the relief, then to the altar and the people bustling in and out around it. Perhaps there is a door? he thinks to himself as he breaks away from the group slightly to examin a nearby outed window.
Kethruch
June 05, 1048 1156 One of the men working on the relief stops his work and looks at Portia. "I'm not sure, but you might look back in one of the wings. I think he's setting his office up there. Sorry I can't help you further, but I am just a hired laborer. The temple members are getting their personal stuff in order." (Portia - religion/local roll 22) As Tiemmo wanders along the north row of columns, he notices nothing of note until he comes past the spot where the opening is on the north wall (the REALLY big one with the circular structure at the east end). There is an apparent second floor in the 'wing', as there is a wall that comes down to a point about ten feet above the floor, and the ceiling in the wing is also about ten feet. A stairway up winds around the circular section, disappearing into the ceiling above. Linden comes up on the men putting up the relief as the man finishes his talk. She instantly recognizes the relief as that of Sardyn, the River-Father. (Linden - religion/local - roll 151) Altarus notices that there are intact panes of glass around - enough for two windows around where the men are working on the missing windows. One is neatly laid out, some sort of religious figure, no doubt. The other seems to be piled up and the metal framing seems to be bent and twisted. (Altarus - Observation = 110)
Malchik
Tiemmo climbs the stairs cautiously.
Kethruch
June 05, 1048 1157 As Tiemmo begins to climb the stair, he notices that there are a series of crossed, silver, axes, about two feet in height, embedded in the wall of the circular tower. As he looks a little closer, he also notices that the stone that makes up this tower seems to be a much different type, reddish in color rather than the black and white granite of the construction of the main part of the temple. His examination of the area is disrupted by a man who confronts him. "Excuse me, can I help you?" The man inquires. Malchik
"Oh, hello!" Tiemmo smiles. "It's all so amazing. I've never been in a building this big before! Do you know anything about its history?" He points to the axes. "And these are really interesting." While naively staring at the axes he covertly sizes the man up. "Ah! And we are also trying to find a gentleman called Parr who is in the temple somewhere."
