OBMM Troubles

Hi all I'm new to the forum and trying to get the hang of modding. I have the OBGOTY version and I am running on a windows 7 ( unfortunately ) and I've installed to C:\Games\Oblivion instead of the default. I've looked all over the web and its obvious that you should use OBMM rather than extracting the mods straight into your data folder. So I went and downloaded it and watched tutorials on how to use it, thats not the problem, the problem is when I've installed the mod it stays on the right side of the screen and has a blue square next to it. I know the blue means its loaded and has no conflicts but it does not show up in the Data Files in the launcher. Just looking for any help, thanks. Edited by Wizofwaz

I suspect you are having a problem with Windows 7 security (UAC) protecting you from those evil nasty mods. When you installed Oblivion, you just let it install in the default directory (something like c:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion). Because of the new (as of Vista) UAC security feature, that is not a good place for Oblivion to be installed - especially if you want to mod it.

What you really need to do is to uninstall Oblivion, and reinstall it in some directory other than c:\Program Files or c:\Program Files (x86). Many of us use c:\games\oblivion.

Thank you for replying, funny thing as you posted I was editing mine because I forgot to mention that I do have it installed to C:\Games\Oblivion. So its gotta be something else?

If the mod is something like a body or just changes textures or meshes - it may not have an esp file. Only the esp and esm files will show on the left side. If it has the blue it is installed and active and probably working. If you can tell us what the mod is we can help more.

Yeah the mod I'm trying to install is DMC Stylish 2.1, I extracted it to my desktop loaded it onto obmm so it should be working right?

Edit: Thanks Ben I thought they always had to go to the left, it seems to be working thanks everyone!
