Lifewing
Right, so I have Dragon Age Origins for the Xbox 360. Well, now I know about toolset and whatnot, and It sounds (and looks) real cool, but you need the PC one. Should I get the PC or stick with Xbox 360? -Total unsure what to do- Edited December 1, 2010 by Lifewing
Thandal
Welcome Lifewing! "No easy answer..." or, "It's a no-brainer!" Depends on how you like to play. The XBox (and PS3) are consoles, so on those platforms the game is geared toward real-time action. (One can argue how successfully BioWare accomplished this. DA2 is supposed to be much better at taking advatage of the console's strengths.) On the PC (which is all I've played) you get the advantages of a more "pause-n-play, strategy approach (if you want it), but the big plus is THE MODS! With the right mod, almost anything you like about the game can be improved. Almost anything you dislike has been corrected or eliminated. And all kinds of things you would never have thought of on your own are available for the trying! So if that appeals to you, then definitely get the PC version. At the moment, the "Ultimate Edition" is a great price for the entire collection, and it saves time on downloads time as well. Trust me, if you like the game, you'll want all of it! (Well, except for "The DLC Which Must Not Be Named ", of course! ) Happy PC-gaming!
bben46
You will need a good PC for a good game experience. Many low end PCs just do not have the horsepower to play a game such as Dragon Age. Before running out and spending a pile of cash for a game that may not work well check here. Go here to see if your computer can run the gamehttp://www.systemreq...tslab.com/cyri/ You will find the various game we support Oblivion listed as 'The Elder Scrolls IV, OblivionFallout3 as Fallout3 PC Dragon Age listed as Dragon age Fallout New Vegas as Fallout: New VegasMorrowind is not listed, However if you can run Oblivion at all it should run well on your system. RustyBlade
You may get it to install but your overall experience is not going to be visually pleasant. With the exception of having on-board video like you, my laptop more than exceeds the specs to play but due to that on-board video the game will not even run. I'm not saying it won't run on yours but you will be running at the lowest possible settings and you will be missing out on most of what the game visually offers not to mention your frame rate will be abysmal. Thank you for the advice! I think i'll go ahead and get it, and if it doesn't work I'll just save up to get a new card....may take a while though, seeing as christmas is coming up.
bben46
If the PC is laptop, then the video card cannot be changed. If it is one of the low profile inexpensive desktop PCs, then it will require a low profile video card - hard to find, and may need a power supply upgrade also as most of those I have looked at are under powered for newer video cards. Be sure to check to see if it has a video expansion slot for an upgraded video card. Upgraded power supplies for those are also hard to come by as they are not a standard size.
